The sky outside darkens and I watch the moon shift high into the sky from my bedroom window. I've always loved the dark, probably because it's harder for me to be out during daylight, but the moon and stars are just so calming and beautiful. The sun's too bright and obnoxious for me, kinda like Roman. He's loud and annoying but you kinda have to love him, he's like Tinkerbell, he dies if he doesn't get enough attention. He may be a self obsessed idiot but he's my self obsessed idiot. Enough about him though, I need to go hunting before sunrise. I get up from the windowsill and slip on my trainers then head downstairs and see my mother sitting on the sofa. She looks over her romcom novel and says, "Animals only Virge, no humans." I like teasing her about this, I would never really feast on a human.
"Got it, humans." I say jokingly.
"No Virgil, animals." She says a little firmer this time.
"Okay humans, glad we had this talk. See ya mom." I leave the house smirking and I here her groan from behind me. In Florida there are a lot of forests and 'where there's forest there's food' as dad always says.

As I step into the forest the chilled breeze rushes past me, filling me with adrenaline. Observing the terrain I see a deer comes into view, I stealthily move behind a tree and watch. Waiting for the right moment to pounce. 3...2...1 The deer winces slightly as I sink my teeth into its flesh. I suck the poor thing dry and turn to leave. However, I start to get the feeling I'm not alone-a sinking feeling in my stomach that I'm being followed. I hear something drag the floor and I look around frantically. I look left, right, up and down and freeze as I see a long, dark green snake slither past my feet. I pick it up cautiously, and stare at it intensely. "Deceit?" I say the snake stares back and I feel incredibly stupid for a second, then in the blink of an eye the snake transforms back into the lanky vampire that is Deceit.
"That was quite show Virge." He slow claps. "I especially like the part where you growl like an animal and continue to suck the deer dry." I roll my eyes and Deceit smirks. Deceit's been my friend for as long as I can remember, he's always been there when I needed him and even when I say I wanna be alone. It's like having a huge jerk watch you and follow you all the time, but he means well. He pretends like he doesn't care but I know he does, it's like having a big brother. "You know I'm kidding around Virge, lighten up."
"Whatever. Why are you stalking me again you shapeshifting freak?" Every vampire has their own special ability but Deceit's is just creepier than everyone else's. He always makes fun of mine because it's pathetic apparently.
"I'm looking out for you, as usual."
"How'd you know I was here?"
"A strong smell of tears and angst." He smirks, I just scoff at him. "I'll race you back to your place."
"Okay, no cheating this time." I smirk.
"I would never." He says in mocked offence. We start running at the speed of light and somewhere down the track Deceit turns into a wolf and paces me.
"I said no cheating asshole." Deceit howls and runs ahead of me, as usual. We finally arrive back at my place, gasping for air.
"I...won." Deceit says between breathes.
"Only because...you cheated." I shoot back, equally as out of breath.
"Whatever. Don't die on your way through the door, see ya." I smile and I swear Deceit must've turned into a moth or something because he's literally nowhere to be seen.
"See ya." I say in the direction of where I think he might be. It must've taken forever to get as good as he is at shapeshifting.

I see that mom has probably gone to bed so I too head up to my room, not that I'm sleeping or anything. I shut my curtains once I'm inside and lay lifelessness on my bed, waiting for day to break. Gosh I sound like my grandparents.
