Previously on Happily...

Candice accudently let slip that Taras dad got another woman pregnant, Taras having twins, Emilys mom returned and revealed she has a half sister.

Emily's P.O.V

After a colossal melt down from Tara and Devon and I attempting to calm her down for over thirty minutes, we finally succeed long enough to sit down for dinner.

I can tell Candice feels as guilty as sin and both Hunter and I try to soothe her, it was inevitable that Tara would find out anyway, it's not like a baby can be hidden easily but it's plain as day how awful she feels.

Each of us pick at our food awkwardly, bar Hunter of course who's shovelling the food into his mouth like he's been starved for days.

Taras eyes are red and puffy but she seems a lot calmer now than she did just ten minutes ago. She was like a wild banshee.

In amongst all the drama and tantrums, it still feels peaceful. Everything seems right somehow. Like no matter what, everything will turn out okay.

"Is anyone gonna eat that?" Hunter asks pointing to the last chicken breast placed in the centre of the table.

A few people look up and I notice a very tiny smile on Taras face, but nobody answers, so Hunter takes it and begins to tuck in again.

"How did this happen?"

Everyone stops at once, Taras small voice halting us all.

For a few seconds everyone is silent but my wonderful fiance, in all of his sarcastic glory opens his big mouth which still has chicken rolling around it.

"I'm pretty sure the same way you ended up like that!" He points to her stomach and she rolls her eyes.

"Thanks Dr. I know fucking everything"

"Tara"

"Sorry mom" she apologises to Christine before turning her attention back to Hunter. "I was talking in general you idiot. When did everything become so difficult and messed up?"

I know when everything seemed to take a turn for the worst but as well as the worst, they've been the best years of my life.

Everything went to fuck pretty much the day Hunter and I had our 'one time thing'. Since then, it's been drama after drama. Even though completely unrelated, the timing is a coincidence.

"Everything will be fine Tara" Devon soothes Tara running a hand up and down her back.

She sends him a small smile but I can tell she's doubtful.

I cant blame her, with everything that went on with Nick, the crash, my mom leaving, my dad becoming sick and Hunter being shot and almost killed, I felt doubtful things would get better too.

But they did.

And now I'm engaged to the man of my dreams, surrounded by family and friends who love me.

"He's right Darling" Christine agrees with Devon. "Things might seem bleak right now, but they're not, far from it actually. You have two beautiful little babies growing inside of you and taking care of them and yourself is the number one priority, don't let your fathers stupidity bring you down."

"I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason" Hunter adds, using the very wise word once said to him.

"Is that why you punched him?" Christine asks with a quirked eyebrow toward her son. She looks like she's about to scold him and it makes me highly amused. I let out a little giggle.

"Bastard deserved it" He grumbles tucking into his food again.

"I agree." Tara responds.

I'm surprised that they're actually agreeing for once, its nice to see, even if it is about their mutual hatred for their father right now.

"That might be so but he's still your dad" Christine says sternly. "Now, I won't have anything bad said about him by you two. Only I'm allowed to do that" she's half serious and half joking, it's obvious it hurts her to see her children hurting.

Devon's parents sit quietly throughout the whole conversation, theyre not really that sociable which is weird because their son is the complete opposite. They remind me of one of those couples you see on TV, perfectly prim and it amazes me that they have brought Devon up to be who he is. He loves rock music and Tattoos, he rides a motor cycle and cusses more than a sailor, compared to him, his parents seem so different.

Candice is sitting texting on her phone, her dinner untouched.

I wonder briefly if she's texting Dean but don't ponder too much on it.

Wanting to cheer the atmosphere a little I change the subject, sitting up straight in my chair and placing my knife and fork down. "So, I guess we'll have to start organising the baby shower" I try to sound enthusiastic for Taras sake.

"We'll need two of everything" She tries to sound happy but I can see she's still upset over her dad.

"Do you want to find out the genders?" Candice asks from her spot, finally joining in with the conversation.

"We do." Devon replies "we think it would be hard enough to plan for one baby never mind two."

"When do you find out?"

"Thursday" Tara smiles rubbing a hand instinctively over her still flat stomach. She lights up, every inch of her beaming with pride.

"We're going to go to the Doctor and then do some shopping. Every man's dream come true." Devon adds, sarcasm dripping from his tone.

"I don't know how we're going to afford all this" Tara says worriedly.

"Maybe I could murder dad and we could get his inheritance?" Hunter jokes earning a scolding look from his mother. Hunter just shrugs, not bothered in the slightest.

"Speaking of inheritance" Devons mother eventually speaks, for what I think it's the fourth time tonight, "we think it's about time you got yours, you could definitely use it"

"I have inheritance?" He asks.

"Your grandad Tommy left you some money, it's not a lot, but it will help you out a bit"

"That's brilliant, thanks mom" Devon cuddles his mom across the table.

Hunter leans in to me, his scent making me heady. He always smells so good. "Wanna help me plan my fathers murder?" He asks so innocently, his eyelashes batting, it makes me giggle.

I push him away laughing and he pouts in protest.

Candice stands up abruptly, the chair making an awful sound as it scrapes against the floor tiles. "Thanks for dinner Tara, but I've got to go."

"Okay" Tara frowns "is everything okay?"

"Absolutely" She smiles genuinely as she places her phone into her clutch purse, "I have an interview for a job."

"It's almost ten at night"

Candice just shrugs "that's when I look my best" She smiles brightly at us. "I'm really happy for you Tara, you're going to be an amazing momma, don't even think about asking me to babysit though" She kisses Tara on the cheek and ruffles Devons hair with her hand which he swipes away with a grumble. "Sorry about my big mouth"

Candice moves to Christine next giving her a small hug, then onto me and Hunter. "You got one of the good ones Em" She says and I definitely don't protest. "Lucky Bitch" She kisses me before glaring at Hunter "If you hurt her, I will rip off your dick and staple it to your forehead." She smiles so sweetly like she hasn't just dished out a very imaginative and gruesome threat. "Love you bitches" She winks before leaving.

The room is silent when the door clicks closed behind her until Devons dad, all proper and church-going speaks up, "She's a very colorful girl isn't she?"
