Emilys P.O.V

My heart leaps into my chest as I hear an almighty scream from Ken and Christines house. My head snaps up to Hunter and within seconds he's at the front door, leaving me behind.

He doesn't bother knocking, he never does, but I rush after him to make sure everythingg is okay.

When we enter, Hunter pushes me behind him like the caveman he is and walks slowly through the small foyer.

The shouts and screams get louder, banging, crashing and what sounds like a plate being thrown is enough to make Hunter run the rest of the way into the kitchen.

"I'm not the only one to blame for this Christine!" Hunters dad shouts pointing an angry finger at his wife.

She scoffs in response. "I didn't do any of this!" She yells back as Hunter and I go unnoticed in the doorway. "I can't even stand to look at you, you lying bastard!"

Christine throws a cup in Kens direction and it bounces off the wall just inches away from his head before hitting him on the shoulder.

"What in the hell is going on?" Hunter roares bringing their attention away from each other and onto him.

The house is a mess, a broken dining chair lies sideways across the floor, the cupboards are open, I'm assuming to give Christine easy access to more things to throw. Shattered crockery covers the entire floor and I wonder how many plates and cups Christine has used as a weapon against her husband today.

I grip onto Hunters arm, I don't know why. Maybe it's because I'm uncomfortable in the situation or whatever but with him close by, I feel a little better.

"Hunter, Emily" Christine says looking slightly shocked we're here. Now that she's facing us I can see the red, puffy evidence around her eyes that she's been crying. "I forgot you were coming for lunch." she says attempting to compose herself for our sake but she looks dreadful.

"Obviously" Hunter snaps at his mom and I feel a pang of sympathy for her. "Look at the state of this place, what's going on?"

"Nothing to concern yourself over son" Ken speaks, trying and failing to sound and look like the well put together man he usually is. "Your mother and I are just having a little argument."

"A little argument?" Christine replies with disdain dripping from her tone. "You have got to be fucking kidding me?" she says harshly and I cringe. In all my years of knowing this woman, I've never once heard her cuss.

"Just go, Hunter," Ken says with force. You can tell he's angry, both of them are but I know Hunter and he won't leave until he figures out what's happened and if his mom is okay.

"You alright?" He asks Christine as he tugs his arm out of my grasp and goes to her side.

She's shivering, probably from the adrenaline and he pulls her into him, rubbing a hand up and down her arm to comfort her.

Christine crumbles then, her legs collapsing under her as she breaks down into heart-wrenching sobs.

My heart breaks for her as I take in the scene, what on earth happened here?

"I think you should leave" Hunter suggests looking pointedly at his dad.

Ken opens his mouth in protest but Hunter glares at him, silently telling him to give his wife some space.

"She's always playing the victim" He snaps before storming out, I dodge out of his way as he passes me and I hear the front door slam loudly.
