Chapter 5

POV: 3rd person
Timeline: Present
I don't know if I should put a warning but please tell me if I should.

Virgil was walking down the street as the ghost followed closely behind, an awkward silence engulfing the atmosphere. To lighten the atmosphere, Virgil hummed a song (Choose any song I don't really care). The ghost looked at Virgil curiously and attempted to follow, going slightly off tune. Virgil smiled slightly as the ghost followed his humming and continued singing. After a few rounds, the ghost perfected it and both were in perfect sync.

They arrived in Virgil's house and headed to Virgil's room. Virgil put his bag on top of his study table and turned to the ghost while smiling.

"I'll be doing my assignment, just stay in here while I finish up, okay?" Virgil said. The ghost tilted his head slightly, not having understood what the other said but concluded that the young man wanted him to stay put. The ghost was trying to find a way to reply so he just repeated the sentence again, nodding his head slightly. Virgil smiled once again, pain showing in his eyes, and went to do his homework. The ghost sat down on the bed and kicked his legs. He eventually got bored after a while and went around the room, observing everything in the room. He drifted to where Virgil was and watched him work silently.

A little while later, Virgil finished his homework and turned to the ghost.

"So, do you remember your name?" Virgil asked. The ghost stared blankly at him. He sighed. "Right, right, forgot about that. Hmm, what should I call you then?". He thought for a while but then got interrupted by the sound of barking. He stood up,"Hold on, give me a minute" then went outside. The ghost decided to follow and saw that he was carrying a small dog.

"What are you doing here Pat? Go back outside, mom wouldn't like this" Virgil said. Pat licked Virgil's face as he laughed. "I'll play with you tomorrow Pat, I promise" and put the dog outside. Pat whimpered as Virgil pat his head and shut the door. Virgil turned to the ghost, "Anyway, what should I call you-?"." Pat...Pat... Pat......Pat? Pat...Pat!!" The ghost interrupted, repeatedly shouting "Pat". Virgil laughed, "You really like that name huh?" He murmured. "Let's name you Pat for now, is it okay for you?" He asked. The ghost turned and plastered a large smile. "Pat!!" He unconsciously agreed. Virgil couldn't help but smile at that, his heart warmed when he saw the ghost finally smile. "C'mon Pat, let's go back inside" and they retreated into the room.

Virgil spent his free time teaching the ghost, otherwise known as Pat, the alphabet, which didn't take long as the ghost was an abnormally fast learner (Virgil thought this was because of his "lost" memories). Pat managed to memorize it in under 5 minutes. When Virgil saw that he could memorize the alphabet, he decided to teach Pat how to make sentences. Surprisingly, Pat could make a few sentences already After roughly 1 hour. Virgil took breaks sometimes, one of those for dinner.

He took his time teaching Pat. He spent the rest of his waking hours teaching Pat on how to communicate, and by the time it was bedtime,  Pat knew how to make simple sentences, along with a few simple questions. "Goodnight Pat" Virgil said tiredly.  Pat tilted his head slightly, showing slight emotion, something he learned from watching Virgil. "What is a 'Goodnight'?" He asked. "It's something you say when you greet someone when you're about to sleep" Virgil replied. "Thank you Virge!......
..........Goodnight!" Pat attempted to use the word correctly. Virgil hummed in response and fell asleep. Pat watched Virgil as he peacefully slept and laid beside him, closing his eyes and unknowingly following Virgil into the area of the subconscious.

Virgil woke up with a yawn. He groaned softly and turned to his side only to be scared half to death by the ghost beside him, eyes closed in a dreamy state, not sleeping but not awake at the same time. He smiled again, unsure as to why he kept smiling when he's around Pat. He relaxed and took his phone, checking the time and almost had a second heart attack when he saw the time.

6:50am

I have 10 minutes left before the bus arrives!! he thought. He jumped out of his bed (unknowingly waking Pat from his "dream" state), took a really quick bath and changed into his clothes, almost putting his shirt backwards from the rush. He ran downstairs and grabbed a tumbler, filling it with hot coffee, and got two granola bars. He slung his bag on his shoulders, put on his shoes, and ran to the bus stop. He let out a deep breath of relief as he saw the bus just arriving, and he ran to go inside. Once he found a seat, his adrenaline disappeared, leaving every inch of his body ache from the run. He sank into the seat, body wet with sweat and panting a lot.

"Are you ok Virge?" The ghost suddenly asked, making Virgil suddenly gasp and jump slightly. "Virge?" Pat asked. Virgil relaxed when he found that it was Pat. "Did you just appear out of nowhere?" Virgil asked. " What is an 'appear'?" "It's the same with the word show, as in 'I showed up to work today' Pat". The ghost responded with an "oh" and proceeded to hum the alphabet song. Virgil mentally laughed and looked out the window, thoughts dancing in his own head while he drank his coffee and ate his granola bars. Something about this ghost just screamed familiar at Virgil. He just does not know why. Most importantly, how can he see Pat? If he could just unlock the secret, then it would make sense. Maybe he ask for help from Logan? No, he would think it would be unrealistic. Best to keep this a secret for now, and hope this would all make sense, somehow. 

That's a wrap folks!!!!

Here is a fluff chapter, just like I promised ^-^. (Hopefully it is fluff, cause I sort of suck at doing happy moments). Also Pat knows how to (barely) communicate!!! I don't need to have a hard time thinking on how he would react qwq). Anyway, hope this chapter is as good as what I imagined in my head and you guys won't be confused!!! And I would also edit the previous chapters for plot holes, grammar mistakes, etc. So you should probably reread the chapters after I finished it just in case you would miss something.

One more thing, I'm currently dying as I'm reading the comments.
