POV: Virgil
Timeline: Present

TW: Implied death, slight crying in the near end

"Hey Virgil!" Thomas called out. "Yeah?" I say as I turn around. "Wanna hang out later? Just the two of us," Thomas smiled. "Uh, sure. Why?" I asked. "Well, we are friends. But we rarely hang out, so I had this idea!" Thomas replied.

I nod my head, "I see. So, where do we go?"
"We could go to my dad's cafe," Thomas suggested. "Sure, his coffee tastes really good anyway," I smile which made him smile. "I'm glad you think so! Well, see you after school!" He said before walking towards Joan and Talyn.

"Can you let Thomas see me?" asked Pat. "No, not yet at least," I said to him. He pouted in response. "Aw shucks."

"Hey Gothy, you talking to padre?" Roman said. "Shhh Roman. You're being too loud," Logan said which made Pat giggle. "Did you seriously forget that no one knows that I have a ghost friend?" I facepalmed. Roman just shrugged in response.

"We should go, as we might be late for our first period," Logan informed us. "You're right, we should get going."

------------Timeskip------------

"Hey Thomas," I waved. Thomas waved back with a huge smile as he runs to me. "Hey Virgil! I was so excited for the hangout that I couldn't focus at all!" He said happily.I laugh a bit, "Well, we're hanging out now." Thomas smiled, "I know!".

We talked about a lot of things on our way to the cafe. Thomas just informed me that Joan has switched to being non-binary and going with the pronouns "they/them". I told him to tell Joan that I fully support them, he seemed happy about that.

Aside from that, we talked about normal things, like how school was. Honestly, it felt like I had an older brother, which was pretty cool. Pat seems to also enjoy Thomas's company a lot. I can't blame him though, he's a very nice man.

"We're here!" Thomas happily said. "Great, cause I'm starving, lets go in already," I said jokingly. Thomas laughed a bit and opened the door. Immediately, we were attacked by a strong smell of coffee.

"Smells like home," I said. "Hey daddy! How's business?" Thomas said to Remy. "Slow as usual. At least I have time to buy this latte from starbucks," Remy said, taking a sip of his coffee. "Hey Remy," I said. Remy turned around and dramatically pulled down his shades.

"Hey hun. Welcome back~" He greeted. I gave him a warm smile and we went to order. After ordering and paying we sat on an empty table and ate our snacks. We talked about random things as we slowly finished our meal. Eventually, Remy decided to join in our conversation.

I enjoyed that, it was peaceful with the calm atmosphere of the cafe, plus the music is very calm and soothing. It really ties up the mood. It helped me calm down from school, which I need the most. Then, I heard the bell dingle signaling that someone entered the cafe. I look towards the door to find a grown man who looks like he's in his late 30s.

He had brown hair fading to pink, hazel eyes framed with pink pastel eyeglasses and his skin color was a nice peachy color. He wore a beige cardigan and a pink shirt underneath it. He wore a pair of brown pants and white sneakers.

"Hey hun. Whatcha doing here?" Remy asked the brunette. "I had a very tiring day at work so I decided to come here to loosen up a bit," he smiled. "Hello papa!" Thomas said standing up and running to the man. Thomas's other dad smiled and ruffled Thomas's hair. "Heya kiddo! How's school?"

Wait a minute..... that sounds awfully familiar. "Hey, thats what I say too!" Pat giggled. "Uh.....must be a coincidence," I whispered. Thomas's dad must've heard it because he looked behind Thomas and saw me. He paused for a moment, his face subtly changing from happy to sorrow, just before turning back to his happy face. It kind of made me uncomfortable but I think I'm okay.

"Oh, who's he?" He asked. Remy pulled me to his side and put his hand on my shoulder. "This little runt right here is one of Thomas's new friend," he said. "Oh! It's nice to meet you! I'm Emile Picani Sanders," Emile smiled. "Hi Mr.Sanders. I'm Virgil," I greeted.

Emile giggled a bit, "Oh honey, just call me Emile. I don't mind!" Pat tapped my shoulder and said, "He seems oddly familiar to me Virge." I hum in response, "Huh, that's interesting..."

"Come sit with us Papa!" Thomas said dragging Emile to our table. "I'll get you tea," Remy said standing up. "Thanks hun," Emile replied, smiling. Thomas returned to his seat while Emile took Remy's seat.

"So Virgil, what grade are you in?" Emile asked. "Um.....Grade 8," I reply. "Hm.. It's a shame that Thomas would be graduating this year. Soon he'll go to a different college out of town, I'm worried that he'll lose touch withhis friends," He said.

"Papa, you know I'll still visit. That means I can still hang out with them. Plus, we can still video call each other," Thomas reassured. Emile sighed, "I guess you're right."

"...What job do you have Emile?" I asked. "I work as a therapist nearby," he replied. "Oh...I see," I simply said. "How about you dear, where do your parents work?" He asked. "Well my mom works as an architect and my dad...." I hesitate, ".....He passed away...when I was very young."

"Oh my, I'm very sorry for your loss Virgil," Emile said. "It's okay, it's in the past now." I told him. He gave me a gentle smile, a smile that seems to hold more than happiness. "He's very kind," Pat said.

"Anyway, how is my husband's cafe?" Emile asked me, trying to change the subject. "I really like it, it has a calm atmosphere and the food and drinks tastes delicious," I complemented. "I'm glad you enjoy it here, we work very hard on those pastries," Emile smiled. "They're homemade? That's amazing!" Pat said, "Though I wonder how they taste like."

Suddenly, I felt the urge to go to the restroom. "Oh um...... excuse me, I need to go to the restroom for a moment," I said staning up. "Sure kiddo! It's no pro........" Emile hesitates. "Papa?" Thomas calles out. "Um...Emile?" I asked him, getting worried.

".....blem.." He said, completing his sentence. "Blem?" Pat asked, giggling slightly. "Is your last name Horx?" Emile asked slowly. "Uh......yeah?" I replied. "Honey, it's probably just a coincidence," Remy suddenly said from behind and ultimately scared me.

"What's the coincidence?" I asked, confused. "What's happening Virge?" Pat asked. "I.....I don't know.." I admit. "No! It can't be a coincidence! He looks just like her! Even the last name fits!" Emile said, breaking down. "Papa, please calm do-" Thomas tried to intervene, but got interrupted. "I need to know! She's the only sibling I have left!" Emile said before turning to me with tears trickling down his pained face.

"Tell me...... Are you Cathy Horx's son?"
