I silently wrapped my uncle's arm. It was almost midnight, and I was exhausted. I'd wanted to stay awake until he came home from patrol, I'd wanted to give him a hot meal. Unfortunately, he'd ended up being 6 hours late, and bleeding.
He said he would go to Recovery girl before school, but I didn't know her, so I wrapped his wound anyway. There wasn't any reason for him to be in any unnecessary pain while we waited.
I read while I waited for my uncle to wake up. I'd accompanied him here, and I didn't feel comfortable leaving him alone while he was so defenseless. Had we been at home it wouldn't have bothered me, but we weren't, so it did.
I looked up as the door opened, mildly surprised to see Todoroki helping Midoriya walk in. They made eye contact with me and froze.
"Emiko? What are you doing here?" Midoriya blurted. My gaze flicked to my uncle, and they both nodded. "I heard about his fight last night! He was really cool!" They sat on the bed next to us and i closed my book. I hadn't seen the fight or heard about it besides his brief explanation, so all I could do was shrug.
"Are you waiting for him to wake up?" Todoroki asked.
I nodded, and gestured at the pair curiously, tilting my head. Fortunately they seemed to understand.
"Oh! I accidentally tripped and fell down the stairs." Midoriya scratched his cheek self consciously as he explained. "I was trying to catch something."
I smiled and repressed a laugh. I nodded and blinked at Todoroki.
"Im making sure Bakugou doesn't come call him an idiot."
I nodded, curious who Bakugou was but not asking. From what Present Mic had said, he was loud and angry. Not something I mixed well with. Before our conversation could progress any further the door opened and recovery girl walked in. She narrowed her eyes at Midoriya. "What have you broken this time?"
"Nothing! I just sprained my wrist when I fell!" He explained hurriedly.
She sighed and kissed his wrist, his eyes drooped and he slumped against Todoroki a second later. I had to suppress a laugh at the sight.
"Are you still waiting for your uncle my dear?"
I nodded as Recovery girl turned her attention to me.
"It's good he has someone to look after him, I was worried he'd party until he died!" She smiled brightly. "He should be waking up soon." She sat in her chair to do whatever it was she needed, and I turned my attention back to my uncle, fixing his blanket and crossing my legs.
"Is that how you know Present Mic? You're his niece?"
I nodded, wondering if he had not connected the dots before. His next response answered it.
"I didn't know that." He propped a pillow under Midoriya's head before sitting back down. I smiled slightly to assure him it was fine, it was at that moment my uncle woke up.
"Man! That was the best sleep I've had in forever!"
Recovery girl rounded on him. "Yes, well if for once you would actually sleep maybe you wouldn't sleep quite so soundly when I heal you! Better yet! You shouldnt be nearly so reckless when fighting!"
As my uncle stood to grin and happily yell with her, I fixed the sheets, arranging them so they were back to their original state.
"Oh, go home Yamada!"
"Yes ma'am!"
I began walking after my uncle, but I paused when I felt fingers close around my wrist, pausing to glance at Todoroki curiously.
"Would you like to come hang out with us tomorrow? Uraraka, Midoriya, and Iida really liked you." He explained quickly. I nodded, smiling softly. He released my wrist. "Do you know where the dorms are?"
I nodded and he smiled slightly.
"Is noon alright?"
I paused, scanning my list in my head, nodding a second later. My head swiveled toward the door as I closed and I nodded once more before racing after my uncle.
