I was right, it was worse. Of course, it was only a select few girls who'd taken to demanding things from me and my boyfriend. And of course no one knew but me.
As of this moment they wanted me to get them all dates with heroes in training. I sighed quietly, leaning against the wall as they argued. I wasn't going to ask Shouto, much less his friends, so I truly didn't understand why they were arguing over who should go out with what hero in training. I was just grateful Shiro hadn't told them I was related to Present Mic.
"Hey! Emiko! Whats up?"
Speak of the devil and he shall appear...
I flashed a small smile at Shiro. "Hey girls! You guys don't mind if I borrow her for a second right? I want to talk to you about the christmas party tomorrow."
I nodded and quickly followed the boy, relaxing as we left the girls behind. He didn't talk until we were safely in a classroom several hallways away. "Sorry, you looked uncomfortable. I didn't realize you wouldn't like being popular so much."
I smiled and wrote on the board. "I don't mind it, I just don't like being asked to do things just because I happen to be close to Shouto."
"Oh, yeah sorry man, it never even occurred to me that people would ask for things. I'm really sorry Emiko." He bowed apologetically. I laughed lightly, turning to write some more.
"You're all right, honestly. I'm not upset or anything." I smiled as he read it.
"Really? Man you're the best!" My eyes widened as he swept me into a hug. I wasn't used to affection like this from outside family and my close friends in America. "Alright, so I went to the store and got this for you, will you wear it to the party tomorrow?"
I took the item from him to examine it. It was honestly really cute. I nodded, smiling up at him brightly.
His grin widened. "Yes! Thank you! Tomorrows gonna be so much fun!" He bent and kissed my cheek, grinning at me afterwards. "I'll see you tomorrow then Emi."
I stared after him with wide eyes, lifting my hand to touch my cheek. A few seconds later I shook my head. Shiro wanted to be my friend, it had been a friendly kiss is all. Still, I hadn't been expecting that.
I tucked my hair behind my ear and left, meeting Shouto at the gate.
He kissed my cheek before slipping his arm around my waist and leading me to the sidewalk. "Where'd you get that?"
I smiled down at the headband as we walked. "Shiro gave it to me for our party tomorrow."
"Are you going to wear it?"
I smiled up at him. "Yeah, its cute."
"Hmm." He turned his gaze back to the road and me to the headband. We were silent the rest of the way home, but that wasn't unusual for us. Akito was staying for a club of some sort, I trusted him.
When we reached my house I blinked up at Shouto. "Are you coming in?" I asked every time he walked me home. Most of the time he couldn't, but sometimes, like today, he nodded and followed me inside.
I never minded, I loved hanging out with Shouto. I turned to face him as we reached the kitchen, opening my mouth to ask if he wanted anything to eat or drink. My thoughts went unspoken as his mouth crashed over mine. Now, I love kissing Shouto, but I was 100% unprepared for this one.
I stumbled back a step and my back collided with the counter. Shouto tilted his head, fitting our mouths better as his hands cupped my side and face.
I yanked myself away. "Shouto! What...why...are you okay?" I stammered.
He dropped his head so it was on my shoulder, his hands clasping the counter and trapping me in. I hesitated for a second before raising my hands. I rested one on his shoulder and began running the other one through his hair slowly.
"Hey, Shouto, what's wrong? What happened?" I asked quietly, keeping my voice low and soothing without using my quirk. He was silent, but I continued running my hands through his hair. "Its alright Shouto." I soothed.
"I was jealous." He finally mumbled.
I nodded slightly. "Of what?"
"Shiro. He gave you that, and you smiled so happily at it. Im not used to things like that."
I was careful not to laugh, afraid he might take it offensively. "There's nothing to be jealous over, he gave me a cute hairband, that's all Shouto. It's a seasonal thing for a christmas party we're having. Yeah, I like it, but I love you."
He sighed and I felt him relax, but he didn't change our position. He was probably trying to fight down the feelings, blaming himself entirely. I nibbled on my lip, debating my next actions.
"Whenever I was frightened, or felt alone, I turned to the night sky at a star I call my own." I began singing, letting my quirk flow through the air and through his body, soothing him. "Somewhere I could run to, just across the milky way. If you like I could take you, just a lightyear and a day."
Shouto pulled away, staring at me with wide eyes. I glanced away as I sang. If i didn't finish the song it often had the opposite effect of what I wanted. So I finished the song, avoiding Shouto's gaze the entire time.
"Umm, do you feel better?" I asked hesitantly. I blinked in surprise when he suddenly hugged me. "Shouto?"
"That was beautiful." He laughed into my hair, shifting to kiss the top of my head. "Thank you for letting me hear it."
I buried my head in his chest, hugging him back in relief. "You aren't mad? That I enchanted you just now?"
"Of course not, you were trying to help, and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard."
"I'm just happy you feel better." I admitted softly. In reality it felt amazing to know my quirk had actually helped someone, and that person has not turned on me. At least, not this time. I exhaled quietly, inhaling his scent as he held me.
"Emiko..."
"Yeah?"
I felt his hand press against the back of my head as he kissed my forehead. "I love you."
