Stronger Than You Think

Chapter 9: Run In At Riverview

I walk out of the bathroom and find everyone staring at me. Well not exactly everyone just the girls. Andreas parents are in the kitchen and her brothers are still playing video games.

"Hey" Zelda says walking up to me. "Are you okay?". "Yeah" I say "I'm fine. Just moving on to the next stage in life aye?".

"Yeah. I guess" she says and gives me a weak smile. I walk into the living room and sit on the floor and watch the boys play.

"What was that all about?" Eden asks when Eric gives me his controller and leaves so he can go fix hi hair. "Girls problems" I say without takin my eyes of the screen.

I fell his eyes boring into my skin. "You wouldn't understand" I add. "Ok" he says and I feel his eyes leave my back and look back at the screen. He doesn't press me further.

Once everyone has had a shower and is sitting in the lounge room, Andy's patents come in and tell us that we will be going to Riverview.

"So you girls go and get your swimmers from the tree house and we'll meet you in the car" Andy's mum sad and jump up and bolt to the door.

I open it and run outside and scramble up the ladder into the tree house. Perks of having long legs. The others enter about a minute later.

"Can I still swim?" I ask Ed after she climbs up the ladder. "Yeah" she says "You'll be right. As long as you wear board shorts". "Ed" Cara says "When have you ever not seen Iris swim without board shorts".

We pack up the tree house and shove our bathers into our bags. We run downstairs and out the door. Andy's mum has put the back seat up and Zelda Eda and I climb into the back.

Eden and Eric are sharing a seat and Cara has to sit on Andrea's lap to fit. Olive, being the claustrophobic person that she is, is sitting by the window in her own seat.

Andrea's dad starts the car and 'Geronimo' by Sheppard comes on. Us girls instantly start laughing... finding ina-pro-pro parts to this song is too easy.

We get to Riverview about 10 minutes later. It's this huge pool with slides and diving boards... to sum it all up... probably the best place in our city. Apart from the woods.

I jump out of the car as soon as Andrea's mum moved the seat. I run and find a set if tables closest to the pool and dump my towel down.

The others have caught up and we head to the change rooms. When we get there Andrea hands me something. "You put it up your..... you know" she says and I nod.

"It doesn't hurt. Trust me" she adds before she walks away and I find a shower room to change in. I change and do what Andrea told me to.

She was right it didn't hurt. Well... maybe a little at the start. I run out of the change rooms and dump my bag at our table.

Andy's parents are there by themselves. I run to the biggest slide and climb up the ladder and push myself down the tunnel.

I hit the water and sink to the bottom holding my breath. I pop my head up and see the others swimming towards me. Well... except Eric... I can't seem to see him.

I dive down and swim away. I get about two meters away from my original spot when I feel powerful hands wrap themselves around my ankles and pull me back.

I come up from the water coughing and spluttering. I open my eyes and see Eden smirking at me. I punch him in the arm and he runs it putting a frown on his face and pretending to be hurt.

Zelda looks at him with questioning eyes and he nods. Before I can ask what's going on, Eden puts his hands on my waist and lifts me up.

At the same time Zel puts her hands under my feet and they throw me into the air. I land with a splash next to someone and I push up myself from the bottom of the pool.

I rub my eyes and rake my hand through my short hair trying to focus on the person I almost landed.

The first thing I see is his dark brown eyes and ashy blonde hair. "Oh... Hey Iris" he says and I rub my eyes again. "Hey Newt" I say.

The last thing I see is Zelda's head whipping around before Newt picks me up and throws me back to my group where I land in someone's arms.
