Stronger Than You Think

Chapter 17: New Year

I wake up and look at my wrist. I peel the band-aid off and take a good look at them. Clotted blood... means its healed.

I go into my bathroom and clean the dried blood. I walk into my room and check the time. 10:00 am. Good I have time.

I have a shower and scrub my self clean. I dry off and walk back into my room. I change into the black strapless dress and put on Eden's necklace.

I comb my short hair and clip a bow into it. This is probably the best I ever dress up. No makeup.. I hate the stuff.

I pack a bag with my pjs and stuff and put it down on my bed.

I put my iPod in my clutch purse and go and look at myself. A swelling bruise from the rolling pin on the left side of my jaw but that's it.

I lock my door and grab my watch. 11:30 am. Eden will be here soon. I grab my purse and lock my door.

"BYE!" I call and leave without an answer. I walk downstairs and out the gate as Eden's car rocks up. Elinor and Andy are in the back. Eden is wearing a short-sleeved white button down with jeans. You could see his biceps.

"Hey guys" I say "Did the others walk?".
"Yeah" Andy says. She's wearing a dark blue dress that shifts into light blue down the bottom and ends just above her knees. She's also wearing eyeshadow that does the same. Her hair is straightened.

I look over at Elinor. She's wearing a pale green princess dress that poofs out just underneath her breasts and ends under her knees. Her blue tipped hair is in curls.

"You both look so pretty" I say. "So do you" El says and I turn back as Andy screams. "SHE BEAT YOU" she yells and Eden looks at me. "She WHAT?!" he yells.

"Hey! I'm fine. Don't let the bitch spoil the fun" I say and turn to the window. The others are silent the whole drive.

I knock on Eda's door and the devil herself opens it. I look her up and down. She looks pretty.

She's wearing a ankle length flowing silver dress. The ends of her hair are crinkled and she's wearing a little makeup.

"YOU LOOK SO PRETTY!" we say at the same time and then laugh. "I have an accessory" I say and her eyes wide.

I turn my head and point at my bruise. "OMG!!" she screams "Are you okay". "It's a pretty accessory, hey?" I say "It matches my dress".

"THAT'S NOTHING TO JOKE ABOUT!" Eden and Andrea yell at the same time. I shrug and push past Eda and walk into the kitchen.

Cara's just about to stand on a stool and look into the already open freezer. She's wearing a purple one shoulder dress and black flats. I can faintly she her hair and it tied up in a fishtail braid.

"We have to stop meeting like this" I say and she jumps and knocks her head. "THAT IS THE LAST TIME YOU FUCKING SCARE ME LIKE THAT!" she yells at me.

"Cara!" I say and gasp "I didn't know you could speak French!". "Hahaha" she says and flips me off. Olive walks in. " I heard yelling" she says "Ris! You're jaw!".

Crap! I forgot it was there. "Oh yeah!" I say and laugh "It's my accessory". I look at Olive. She's wearing a ankle length, flowing white dress and her hair is curled at the bottom.

"You look amazing" I say and she laughs at me. "So do you". Cara steps down off the stool. "You look good too!" I say and she does a mock curtsy.

I head into the living room where the rest of the gang are. Elinor and Andrea are sitting on the couch and Eden is talking to Ty.

"Where's Kendall?" I ask looking around. "I'm right hear" a voice says behind me. I turn and Kendall is standing there with Zelda.

Kendall is wearing an ankle length flowing pale orange dress. She has very little makeup on and her hair is in loose curls.
"Are you trying to be Katniss?" I ask her and she laughs.

"She's my inspiration" she says. Zelda is wearing an ankle length, black silk dress and her long brown hair is in curls. "What the fudge Zel" I say and gasp.

"What?" she says and looks at herself. "What's wrong?". "Nothing's wrong" I say "You look hot!". She laughs and goes and sits on Newts lap.

"5,4,3,2,1!!" we all shout as the fireworks go off. I'm standing outside wrapped in Eden's arms. "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!" we shout and Eden turns me around and kisses me.

The others walk inside and we follow. I grab my bag and head to the bathroom to change. Nobody has noticed my scars. I think they were to preoccupied with my bruise.

I change into my pyjamas and walk out side and head upstairs. I find the ladder to the attic already open and I climb up it.

I find the stairs to the roof and head up those as well. Eden's lying there watching the rest of the fireworks display. I crawl onto the air mattress and nuzzle my head into his neck.

He takes my head away and looks at me in the eyes for a moment before our lips meet and fireworks are let off in my body.

I break away and we lay there with our foreheads touching, wrapped in each others arms.

I feel my eyelids droop and I fall asleep as the final firework goes off.
