The plane lands with a jolt and I wake. Tanika is still asleep beside me and I reach over to shake her. She groans. "Come on Tani" I say and shake her again "We're here".
She jolts awake and grabs her carry on bag, standing up quickly. "Calm down" I say grabbing my own bag and stepping into the aisle. She follows me.
We walk to the front and thank the flight attendants before exiting the plane into the crisp night air.
I walk down the steps and wait for Tani at the bottom. She jumps down and skips the last three steps smiling to herself. I laugh at her and we walk to the airport.
Finding our way to the front of the airport was harder than I thought. Stupid people hadn't put signs up to point us in the right direction and this place is huge.
When Tani and I find the front after we've grabbed our bags we hail a taxi and dump our stuff next to us. I pull out my letter and re-read it.
The taxi driver pulls away from the airport and Tanika gives him the address if the hotel we were staying in for the night.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
By the time the taxi driver has pulled up at the hotel I feel like a fucking zombie. I drag my suitcase up the stairs and get the key from the letter box to unlock the door.
"Come on" Tani says and grabs my shoulder pushing me into the hotel. We walk to the elevator and press the up button.
"I can't believe we're here" Tani says as the elevator doors open. "Yeah.." I yawn and Tanika laughs at me.
When the elevator stops an we walk out I find our room and enter it. I dibs the room with the double bed and fall onto it.
My eyes close and the darkness surrounds me.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
"GET THE FUCK UP MOTHER FUCKER!" someone screams into my ear. "Get out mother fucker, get out" I groan and roll over. The person jumps over me to the other side of my bed.
From how dark it is now I can tell that the curtains are shut... good. All of a sudden a bright light gleams through my eyelids. Obviously the darkness wouldn't last long.
My eyes flicker open and I see a mop of un brushed red hair at the window. "Get out Tani" I groan and turn my face into my pillow. "Get up Rissy" she groans mimicking me.
I sit up slowly and my eyes begin to adjust to the light. "TODAY'S THE DAY!!" she screams and begins jumping up and down on my bed. I groan again and rub my eyes.
I run my fingers through my hair that is probably sticking up on all ends. Tanika stops jumping and I fling my legs over the side if the bed and stand up.
Tani jumps down and runs out of the room slamming her door shut behind her. I grab the towel off the floor at the end if my bed and walk into the bathroom.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I crawl into the back of the taxi and pull the letter out of my pocket. The taxi driver raises an eyebrow at us and I do the same to him before telling him the address.
He pulls of the curb and drives away from the hotel. Tani turns to me. "What do you think he'd be like?" she asks. "I don't know" I reply "I guess we'll find out".
She shrugs and I pull out my phone. I pull Tani into view and snap a selfie. I edit it to make a white background and this time I don't put the black and white edit onto it.
I type up a caption: Finally finding out! 😝
@redheadandproud 💕. I post it and Tanikas phone goes off. She looks at it and laughs. She types something and then my phone goes off. It does it again and again and again.
I unlock it and see that my friends have commented.
