Blog 420: Hard Times

Maya's POV:

It had been a few hours since I'd given birth to the cutest little human ever. I still hadn't heard from Josh but I couldn't think about that because the doctors were finally going to bring my daughter up to see me.

Doctor Nahl- "I want you to know that she is really small but that is normal for premature infants."

"Okay, is there anything else I need to prepare myself for?"

Matty- "Does she still have the tubes in her nose?"

Doctor Nahl- "Yes, we had to put those back in along with a feeding tube to help her breath and eat."

"Okay thank you, doctor."

Doctor Nahl left the room and about 10 minutes later some nurses from the Pediatric floor came in with what looked like a glass case, they placed her next to my bed so I could get a better view. It hurt like hell to move but she was close enough for me to put my hand in the little opening so I could touch her. In that moment I couldn't do anything but cry, cry at how small she was, cry about how I couldn't do anything to help her, but most importantly cry because I was so happy that she was finally in this world with me and her family. Doctor Nahl came back in the room but this time he wasn't alone, he came in with a lady in pink scrubs instead of blue...

Doctor- "Hello Ms. Hart.."

"Maya, you can call me Maya"

Doctor- "Okay...Maya, I'm Doctor Morales, Jacquline Morales and I'm going to be this little angel's pediatrician."

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Dr. Morales."

Doctor Morales ran a few different tests on the baby while Doctor Nahl checked my vitals and other things before they finally left the room to give us time alone.

Missy's POV:

"How was I supposed to tell Maya?" I kept repeating that same question in my head for what felt like hours, I needed to try and find Josh's room, maybe the accident wasn't as bad as it looked, I mean maybe he was fine. I was deep in my thoughts when I heard my phone go off.

*Messages*

Matty- Hey Mis where the hell are you? Docs just brought the baby in to see Maya.

Missy- Matty I need you to meet me in the emergency room...NOW!!

Matty- What's going on?

Missy- I'll tell you in person I just need you to tell Maya I went to the bathroom or something and make your way over here.

Matty- Idk what's going on witchu but I'll be there in 5

Matty finally made his way to the emergency room and I couldn't bring myself to tell him what I just saw, yeah he doesn't necessarily like the guy but we know Maya does and if anything happens to him we don't know how Maya would react.

Matty- "Soooo you wanna tell me what's going on?"

This was it, I could finally talk to someone about what was going on

Matty- "Uhh Missy?"

"Matty, Josh was in a horrible accident and I don't know what happened to him or if he's even alive. I was going for a walk, you know trying to clear my head and hoping to find him wandering around the hospital looking for Maya or something when the ambulance brought in a 17-year-old boy who was in a terrible accident on 14th street and when I looked closer I saw this necklace Maya gave him.."

Matty- "Woah Missy chill out, I mean you don't know it was J-"

"The paramedics said he told them his name was Joshua Friar"

Matty- "Ohh my god! Have you found anything out about the accident?"

I told Matty I was trying everything I could but nobody would tell me anything because I wasn't family.

Maya's POV:

Missy and Matty had been gone for a pretty long time leaving me, my mom, Olivia, and my baby girl in the room alone. I still hadn't heard from Josh and began to think that maybe this whole situation was too much for him and honestly I couldn't blame him. I gave him an out and he took it, I was going to have to start imagining my life without him, besides I had a new life to worry about now. A baby, actually make that two babies who were going to need me to be strong for them and I surely was.

2 weeks later

It's been two weeks since I brought this beautiful angel into the world and I couldn't be more blessed. Sadly she had to stay at the hospital for a few more weeks since she was born 8 weeks early but Matty and I go and visit her every day. A lot has happened in those two weeks so I'll take a minute to catch you guys up, for starters I was released from the hospital which for most would be a good thing but on the same day, they had to take my newborn baby in for surgery due to heart complications. As a mom, you never want to see your kids in pain so having to leave her in that place every day is pretty hard. Olivia, on the other hand, is managing to keep our minds off the pretty tough situations, she's getting so big and getting into more trouble than ever. My mom or Missy keep her during the day while Matty and I are at the hospital, we've been so distracted on everything we hadn't decided on a name for her so we just call her Ms.Bean. Still no word from Josh but at the same time, I lost my phone a few days after leaving the hospital so I have no clue what's going on with him. Matty is still working on the nursery for "bean" seeing we weren't expecting her for a couple of months. I've missed a lot of school so my grades dropped a little but thanks to Shyla I'm managing to keep them at A's and B's, Coach Medina called me while I was in the hospital to let me know she was looking for an assistant for the cheer team at school but I haven't decided what I was going to do about that just yet, Riley, Smakle and Farkle came by to visit when I came home from the hospital, I thought to ask them about Josh but I didn't want to hear his decision from them. That's pretty much been my life for the past 2 weeks, hospital and home, worrying about one baby and then going home and worrying about another, questioning why Josh never showed up and if he texted me and if I had my phone I could see it. Some things I can control and others I'll have to leave unknown.

Matty- "Maya you ready to head to the hospital?"

"Yeah, let's go."
