Blog 418: Too Early

3:30 am

(7 months pregnant)

I woke up with a sharp pain in my stomach when I looked at the clock next to my bed it was 2:30 in the morning. I tried to go back to sleep but woke up again at 3:30 with another pain in my stomach, I crawled out of bed and made my way to my mom's room.

Maya(whisper)- "Mom, mom wake up."

Katy- "What is Maya?"

Maya- "I think something is wrong with the baby!"

Katy- "What do you mean?"

I told my mom about the sharp pains I was having in my stomach for the past hour and she suggested we go to the hospital. I went back to my room to grab my bag while my mom ran into Olivia's room to get her ready. I texted Matty and Missy in the car on the way to the hospital to let them know what was going on. I called Josh and told him if he wanted to come he could but he didn't have to since it was like 4:00 in the morning.

Ohh I almost forgot to tell you guys everything that happened with Josh the night of the baby shower.

*Flashback*

Josh- Hey Maya, I wanted to apologize for everything that just happened.

Josh- I shouldn't of let everything Matty was saying get to me. I mean he just kept picking at me. And to be honest I was kind of jealous, I mean he knows so much about you and I've only known you for a few months, not to mention you already have Olivia and now you're having another baby with him. What am I supposed to do?

Josh was jealous and I couldn't blame him, he was right, what was he supposed to do? How should he react to me not only having a kid with him but I was having another one? I didn't know what to say to him.

Maya- Ik Josh and it's okay, Ik Matty can be kind of annoying. And I don't expect you to know what to do in this situation, I mean it's not ideal. But what do you mean by picking at you?

I want Josh in my life don't get me wrong but a part of me didn't see it as fair to keep him in this situation.

Maya- Josh if you don't want to stay I'm giving you an out. This has nothing to do with Matty but everything to do with you, I can't let you stay in this situation knowing it's not fair to you. Josh, I love you and Ik you love me but like I said it wouldn't be fair to you. Whatever you decide to do it's up to you. I love you, Josh.

Josh's POV:

Maya had said the words I didn't want to hear, she gave me an out. AN OUT!! What was I supposed to do I mean I did love Maya but she slept with her ex not even a month of us not talking and now she's pregnant with his baby, did she still love or did she really love me? I looked at that message for hours, Maya hadn't been at school since the baby shower so I never had the chance to talk to her. It's been a couple of weeks and my phone goes off at about 4:00 in the morning and it was Maya telling me she was going to the hospital to check on the baby and I could go. I laid in bed deciding if I wanted to go or not, I mean I never responded to her message and we haven't really talked unless you count me talking to Missy and her mom to see how she was doing.

Present

4:45 am

Maya's POV:

We finally pulled up to the hospital and it was almost 5:00, my mom pulled into the pregnancy ward to let me out and when I walked in I noticed Matty and Missy waiting for me. I checked in with a nurse and was taken to a room. When I was brought into the room the pain in my stomach felt like it was getting worse, my mom made her way to the room and we sat there for hours and the pain got worse and worse. It was 5:30 when the nurse finally came in and check my vitals and she told me everything looked normal and it could have just been Braxton hicks contractions. While a part of me wanted to believe the nurse I never had pain like this with Olivia, I went to the bathroom to change back into my clothes and when I looked down blood was streaming down my legs...

Maya- "MOM!! GET THE NURSE!!!"

Matty rushed into the bathroom to see me sitting on the toilet with blood all over my legs.

Matty- "Maya what's going on!?"

Maya(crying)- "I don't know. I went to change and this is what I saw, just go find a doctor or someone"

Two doctors came in with three nurses, they told me to change into a different gown and to get back into bed. They quickly hooked me up to different monitors, checked my blood pressure, and took blood for different tests. In that entire time, my blood pressure raised and the nurses couldn't find the baby's heartbeat. I've never been more scared in my life and I knew there was nothing I could do. They finally got my pressure to go down and they found the baby's heartbeat, the doctors said they wanted to keep me in for observations. I called Josh, Shyla, and them to let them know what was going on.

7:00 am

I'd managed to doze off for a couple of hours when I woke up to another sharp pain in my side, but this one was made the monitors go off and doctors and nurses rushed into the room.

Maya(crying)- "What's going on!!? Can someone please tell what's going on!?"

Doctors were talking and I couldn't make out everything they were saying but I was able to make out one thing.

Doctor Nahl- "We're going to have to deliver the baby."

Katy, Missy, & Matty- "But she's only 28 weeks!!"

Doctor Nahl- "I understand that, but if we leave this baby in Maya's health and the baby's health could be at risk."

The doctors said I was going to have to deliver the baby and I was only 28 weeks, I didn't know what to think Dr. Nahl said if we didn't do this now it wouldn't be healthy for me or the baby. The nurses came in and gave me different shots and wheeled me to the area where they do C-sections, the other nurse gave Matty a gown to put on so he could be in the room and after what felt like forever I heard a faint cry from my new little girl. The doctor quickly showed her to us and then took her to the doctors in the corner to go up to the Nic-U.

Matty- "Maya she's beautiful."
