Early in the morning, Father already called to remind me about my date with his future-in-law. Like always, I just followed his order without a word. He’s really excited about this marriage, more than I was.
I drove to the destination that I chose for this meeting. I don’t know why I needed to meet him. Whether I like him or not, I still have to get married to this guy who I never knew.
I’m about 20 minutes late. We agreed to meet at 2 o’clock but now, it’s already 2.20 PM. Blame the traffic. Deep inside, I really hope he is already back home because of me being late. I am more willing to meet him at our wedding than to meet right now. I am still not ready. But I still made my way to the restaurant.
I looked around looking for a man that was alone, wearing a red shirt. After making sure he was not there, I smiled, maybe he had returned. At least, I don’t have to meet him. However, I still waited for a moment before I decided that I needed a drink. After all, I was stuck in traffic.
“Hi Park Jinyoung.” I got up when someone called my name from behind. My heartbeat quickened. It must be him, I can’t be wrong.
“Mark hyung!” I’m really shocked. I never expected to see Mark here. I thought the one who called me is my future fiancé but right now, the one who is standing in front of me is Mark Tuan.
“Mark hyung, what are you doing here?” I asked Mark, who was already smiling in front of me. I followed his gesture as he sat down where I previously sat just now.
“How ‘bout you? What are you doing here?” He returned the question to me.
“I’m waiting for…”
“Are you waiting for me Jinyoung?” He tried to joke.
“No! I’m waiting for my future fiancé.” I told him with confidence. I didn’t want any misunderstanding between us. After a year of not seeing him, he was still the same, just that he looked more mature and handsome now. Mark’s smile stayed after hearing my answer. A smile that always made me a happy man a year ago.
Mark Yi En Tuan was the man who introduced what love is to me. Though at that time, I’m a junior, so his attitude was full of responsibility and concern, which was what made me fall in love with him. The moment that I confessed my feelings, he rejected without thinking twice. It crushed my heart.
He said, he already has a lover and he will only love her and it will never change. How lucky that woman was, to be able to have Mark’s heart. Because Mark has all that attitude that both woman and man wanted in every person. Kind of like husband material and I can't have that.
Yet, I never bear a grudge towards him although my love was. not returned. To me, it's fate, and I have learned to forget the past.
“If I’m your fiancé, do you think it’s okay?”
“What are you talking about, hyung?” I didn’t want to say anything about that.
“I’m serious Jinyoung, I will be your fiancé.”
I’m getting more confused with his words. Is he the one that my father talked about?
“Mark hyung…” I just can’t seem to finish the words I wanted to say.
“Our families have already finished the discussion about our wedding. I think everyone has no problem with that. So, what date do you think is suitable for our engagement?” He looked excited.
I’m still confused. What he said was true? I got up suddenly and left Mark alone. All this was giving me a headache. Is it a joke or the truth? I could hear Mark’s voice calling for me, but I just kept walking. I have to ask my father about this. All questions must be answered today.
