River POV

A week. That's what it was like since mom's car accident. She was in critical condition till thankfully, she pulled through. CJ, Jack and Leila came over a couple of times for support. Raelynn hung out the same at her friend's place. Today, they weren't here. I missed Kelly and wondering where she's at. Maybe she's doing birthday planning. Mom wanted me to focus on my birthday plans too. It's hard considering she was still in the hospital till two days ago. I was in the kitchen and opened the fridge. Unfortunately, I wasn't very hungry. This whole thing got on the news and I couldn't ignore because it was everywhere. Mom walked in. She smiled. "Hey, babycakes." She said. I sighed. "Hey mom. How you're feeling?" I said. "Very good! Thanks for asking. Where's Raelynn?" She asked. I smirked. "Probably cramming her face onto the mic." I joked. "Heard that, red lips." A voice said. I laughed as she walked in the kitchen. She grabbed an apple and began eating. "Girls, don't worry about me. I am fully healthy and I'll be able to work tomorrow. Just one day off to rest." She said. We shared nods in understanding. "Anyone wondering why it got on the news?" Raelynn asked. She sighed. "Yes. You know? I think you girls should go see your dad. The whole world knows you're his daughters yet you haven't went to meet him." She said. I sighed. "I thought you said I need to think about birthday plans." I said. She nodded. "Yeah but shouldn't he come to your fifteenth birthday party? If it's happening?" She said. I looked at Bredia. She motioned me to do it. I knew how much she wondered about meeting him. I took a deep breath. "Ok. That's a great idea." I said. She cheered. We chuckled. I grabbed another apple and began biting the fruit. Mom smiled. "How's Kelly?" She asked. I shrugged. "She's fine. I haven't talked to her because she must be planning her fifteenth birthday. It's in two weeks." I said. Raelynn choked on her bite. "Two weeks? And yours is in two months?" She asked. I laughed. "I know it's crazy. It's just one more month." I said. Mom nodded in agreement. "Start birthday planning." She said, walking out. Raelynn smirked. "Yeah. Soon you'll catch up to Kelly's age." She joked. I fake smiled and threw an appleseed at her. She ducked and growled. I chuckled. My phone buzzed. CJ was calling. I answered. "Hello?" I asked. "Hey, Riv! It's been a week huh?" She said. I sighed. "I know." I said. Then my brain clicked. Kelly's birthday is in two weeks! This week passed! Her birthday must be this week! Damn! "CJ, isn't Kelly's birthday in two weeks?" I asked. She giggled. "Duh! It's the day after tomorrow." She told me. I breathed a breath of relief. "Good. It gives me time to buy her gift." I said. "You didn't forget, did you?" She asked. I scoffed. "No! I didn't forget! I was just asking to keep track between helping mom with my b-day preparations." I lied. She laughed. "Riv, you know I'm the party planner. I would've filled everything in that list." She said. I smirked. "You're only job is finding me a swaggalious birthday outfit." I joked. She laughed. "Funny because I love swag." She said. I shrugged. "Me too." I said. "Gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow." She said. I nodded and hung up. The whole time Raelynn couldn't contain her chuckles. I rolled my eyes. "First, you forgot your own girlfriend's birthday and now you claim you'll buy her gift without no idea of what to get her?" She said. I huffed. "I have to think of something! Or Kelly might as well look at me as some forgetful GF." I said. She scoffed and wrapped her arm around me. "That won't happen, oceans. I'll help you." She said. Mom used to call me Oceans because well...my name's River. Strange, right? I smiled. "Ok, thanks B." I said. She nodded. "We need enough money so you can get her something." She said. I began brainstorming over what to buy. What does she love? My brain clicked. Yes! I got it! I smiled widely. "I'll get her a ring with her initials or name. It should be a hundred percent gold and- she cut me off. "Whoa whoa, a golden ring? River, that would cost a million dollars." She said. I sighed. "I know. We have to figure out a way to get the money." I said. She nodded in understanding. We continued brainstorming. Our brains clicked together. "Dance!" She said, smiling. I chuckled. "Yeah, we could dance outside in front of people and they'll drop money in the basket!" I said. Raelynn smirked. "We could form a dance duo." She said. I smiled. "We'll dance together." I said. She cheered. "Yay! We're making money!" She said. We both high five.
