Chapter 17
A day before the storm, everything was calm. Or so they thought.
Non was strolling through the streets when he spotted Jenna on one of the benches, reading a book.
'Jenna!' He blurted out. Before he could stop himself, she had turned around to face him.
'Hey,' she smiled, and he took a seat beside her. He rolled up the sleeves of his gray sweatshirt.
Jenna was wearing her school uniform, but her auburn hair was down. In her hand was a book titled, 'Stranger in the Moonlight'. Even without looking, he immediately recognized the author.
'Jude Deveraux?'
'Yeah!' her eyes widened. 'You've read this before?'
He nodded and shuffled his brown shoes. 'And Heartwishes, and Holly and The Summerhouse. My mother has a collection of them back at home.'
'I'm surprised a guy actually reads romance novels,' she tucked a strand of hair back and closed the book. 'Well, this explains why you're so experienced. You try to model real-life romances from fiction ones.'
'Well, I'm surprised a girl like you reads romance novels,' he crossed his arms, 'you seem a little too...gentle for these books.'
'Never underestimate me, John,' Jenna wagged at finger at him and made 'tchk-tchk' noises. He leaned his face closer to hers.
'But don't you find the scenes a little too...intense?' He smirked. Her eyes immediately flared up,
Jenna smiled sarcastically. 'What if I said I liked intense?'
It seemed that every time Non tried to act cocky, Jenna would almost always overpower him. They may be different, but at least this was something that they both could agree about.
Hands down, this girl was fierce.
'Okay,' He retracted backward and held his palms up. 'You win.'
Jenna snorted.
'So you were strolling around Anders?' She asked.
He nodded. 'I was helping Ryan with his compositions lately. I use the synthesizer to make music.'
