Chapter 6

'Out of my way kids!' Kevin and Tammie turned to the deep voice and saw a group of men running past them. Confused at what was happening, they put on their spectacles and stood unaware.

Suddenly, a big, burly man came running and shoved Tammie out of his way. At the sight of this, Kevin quickly put his arms around her and caught her before she fell.

'You alright?' He asked her. 'Ah!' Tammie writhed as she lifted her left foot. 'The guy stepped on my foot! Does he have any manners towards girls?'

She balled her fists and was about to charge at the man and chased after him, but groaned in pain as she stomped her alright foot.

'Can you walk?' Kevin proceeded to take Tammie's left arm to put it around his shoulders. For the first few metres, Tammie could walk slowly, but after a while she started to wince. 'Kevin I can't,' she closed her eyes. Whatever was painful in her foot, it must have been bad.

Fortunately, there was a bench nearby, so Tammie sat down while Kevin inspected her foot. There was a blue-black bruise near the edge of her feet between the top and the sole. 'Oh man,' Kevin told her,'it's pretty bad.'

Tammie looked back and forth. 'If Dad was here,' she replied,'but he'd be home by now! How do I get home?'

Dad. Louis Tayer. Louis and Tammie.

Suddenly, a brightly lit light bulb came to Kevin. It was a crazy idea, but it was his only chance to help Tammie get home.

'Tammie, get up.' She did as she was told. 'But why?'

'Come on, I'll carry you.' Kevin stood in front of Tammie and bent down a little. He turned to Tammie.

'W-what?' Tammie blinked. 'But I'm so heavy!'

Kevin stood up. 'Fine, at the rate we're going, we'll get to your house by tomorrow morning.'

'Kevin!' she frowned and clenched her fists.

Kevin smirked. 'I'm already trying to help, and you still don't want to accept it.'

Tammie groaned and made a facepalm. 'Okay, okay, whatever. I'll do it.'

Kevin bent down, and Tammie put her arms around his neck. Angling his posture, he took her legs and stood up.

'You okay?' He called from behind. 'Mm-hmm.' Tammie nodded, and Kevin started walking.

'Hey,' he said as they had left the mall,'you seem to get heavier with every step.'

He got a punch in the back.

'Ow, ow, okay I'm kidding!' He chuckled. 'You're actually not bad!'

They continued walking in silence, and Kevin was feeling his arm and back muscles becoming sore. He shook his head and tried to ignore it. I have to be strong, he thought. He couldn't let Tammie get hurt.

Suddenly, he heard a snore. He turned around and saw that Tammie was curled up and had fallen asleep on his left shoulders.

Even as she slept, Tammie was beautiful. Her breathing was steady and shallow, and the way she breathed in and out was very cute and innocent.

It was one of the things that Kevin wanted to see when he woke up first thing in the morning.

He smiled. Everytime he took care of Tammie, he felt warm inside, and he didn't want every moment they shared to end.

Suddenly, he thought about the scenario that happened when they were looking at the fireworks? Why had I said that? Kevin gritted his teeth. One half of his brain assumed that Tammie must have been afraid of what he had said.
