I was currently earning breakfast with my parents

Thankfully My eyes were no longer puffy from crying the entire night because I honestly couldn't handle the questions and the looks that come from my parents

"So how was lunch yesterday?" Mama asked

I smiled taking a bite from my PJ sandwich, "Good actually, they all apologised and treated me warmly"

My mother nodded, clearly she wanted to ask something else

Papa looked up from the newspaper, "what about Lucas?"

There we go

I smiled, "he was kind to dropped me off yesterday, the jeep wouldn't restart"

Remembering how rude he'd been

"Oh" papa said almost surprised "we really need to sell that thing"

Mama laughed, "Yes we do"

"So what's Lucas doing these days?" Papa asked

Shit I had no idea

"Working.. you know the usual, he's actually got a girlfriend named Juliet" I smiled "she's lovely"

That seemed to stop both of them from asking further questions

Considering how awkward the conversation quickly became I got up from the table taking this as my excuse to leave

"I need to leave, lots of things I gotta do today" I said kissing both mama and papa on the cheek

"Sure honey!" Mama said

Looking at myself one last time in the mirror, I wore a cross stitched white sweater with jeans and brown long boots that ended just below the knees. I'd left my hair open after taking a shower and decided to put only mascara.

Satisfied with how I looked I finally left

Parking my jeep in Ella's driveway I got of the car, I noticed Lucas's car parked in the driveway too

What a great way to start my day!

Suzan greeted me as I walked inside and I passed her a warm smile, two little arms wrapped around below my keens

"Look mommy it's dee dee" Isabell screamed

I laughed picking her up and holding her in my arms

Her hazel eyes were shining brightly into mine

"Hello to you too little munchkin" I replied, tapping her nose

She laughed

"You've been a good girl to mommy right? You're feeding the monster in your tummy?" I asked ticking her lightly

Sweet giggles erupted from her, "Ye- yesh"

As we walked into the lounge, Ella and Lucas were talking about something but as soon as they saw me they stopped

"I don't like your uncle Lucas" I whispered to Isabell

She looked at me smiling

"He's a meanie" I whispered again

Isabell started laughing as I put her down

Lucas stood up from where he was sitting, his jaw clenched as for Ella she had a welcoming smile on her face

Ella came up to me and surprisingly she squeezes me into a tight hug

Confused for a moment I looked at Lucas who kept on staring at my face with a blank expression

Slowly I wrapped my arms around her

"Thankyou so much Di!" Ella said "I don't know how I can ever repay you for giving me my brother back!"

"Wha- what?" I asked

She let go of me, smiling "Lucas told me how you told him about hade"

I looked at Lucas again then back at Ella, "Oh"

Had he finally listened to me?

Had my words hit him that hard?

Or was he just his usual self trying to protect his baby sister?

"Okay now that all of that is behind us, lets cheer to a cup of tea.. just like old times"

"Sorry, I have to leave for work" Lucas replied almost immediately

"Oh okay, Diane would you like to join me?" She asked

I smiled, "Sure"

Ella hugged Lucas goodbye before she made her way to the kitchen leaving me and Lucas alone

For the first time since I saw Ella in a long time she looked happy

Her spirits were high

Her face was glowing

And her smile was real

I was about to leave when Lucas grabbed me by the arm and pulled me to a corner

"What are you doing?" I asked "let go"

Lucas jaw tightened, "I have no desire to hold you whatsoever but we need to talk"

I whispered laughed, "Talk or insult me?" I tried to free my arm from his hold "you know what Lucas, I'm starting to think you're a sadist who likes to insult women and hold them captive"

Lucas laughed back bitterly, "No I think you have a very dirty mind Diane, does the thought turn you on?"

My face flushed at his words, ignoring his comment I tried freeing my hand again but it was a useless attempt "Cut to the point"

Lucas smiled, his eyes sparkling "Meet me at my office tonight at eight we need to talk"

I looked at him puzzled

"Oh no, there's no way! I won't meet you tonight.. I don't trust you" I said angrily

Lucas let go of my arm, his hot breath fanning my ear

My heart picked up its beat

What was he trying to do?

Was he playing with my mind

"See, you really do have a dirty mind" he whispered huskily

I swallowed hard, his words were like a water splash on my face

Of course he was busy and didn't have any other time to talk

What was I thinking?

Stupid mind

Within in seconds Lucas was at the door, "we'll meet tonight then"

And with that he left

Leaving me confused
