Ella and I spent the night talking about each other's lives

She showed me pictures of her daughter Isabell, who is now two years old.

I woke up to my alarm ringing

Yes I had work to go to

Ella was already up and I could smell delicious food

Gathering my hair into a top knot I went towards the kitchen

"Morning" Ella beamed

"You know you didn't have to" I smiled seating myself on the counter

"I know but I This was the least I could do after shutting you out for five years" Ella said

"We talked about this. I thought yesterday we promised each other no never talk about the past remember?" I said

She smiled, "Okay but I'm sure you missed my cheese omelettes"

I laughed

Yes I did miss her omelettes

Did I ever mention how heavenly they tasted?

Ella put the omelette and tea on the table, "So where are you working these days?"

Taking a sip from my tea, "I own a architect company"

Ella nudged my shoulder in a teasing manner, "So you're a CEO now! That's hot"

I laughed

"You know you should come with me today. You'll love it in fact I have a space empty for a new designer.. you should join" I said

Me and Ella have been best friends since kindergarten

In college we both chose the same subjects, we had many common interests and designing was one of them

But being a fashion designer was always too cliche for us

So we chose architecture and math as our subjects

Ella's a housewife and she doesn't work anymore which is sad considering she used to be so passionate about her job

Ella sighed, "I really don't know if this is a good idea.. I love designing! You know I do but I have different priorities now, since Isabell is in the picture"

"Besides I don't even live in New York" she continued

"You don't have to be in New York to work for me, you could work for my team in Michigan. And if you start working it doesn't mean you're not paying attention to Isabell. You're a great mom Ella you'll manage it" I said eating the last bit from my omelette

"I'm not telling you to tell me now, take your time and think about it" I said

Ella smiled, "I'll think about it and ask Hade"

"That's the spirit" I said, getting up from the counter

We spent the day at my office. I showed Ella the entire building and just as I thought she loved it

For a moment I saw hurt in her eyes

And I wasn't sure what it was about

I mentally made a point to ask her about it some other time

Ella's back I know

And I'm her best friend I should ask her

But things aren't quite the same yet

Ella hasn't opened up to me about her marriage

And I sense there is some problem.

I'm just not sure what, and I want her to talk to me about it but I know now's not the right time.
