"Hey, Lucas," I said as we lay on the library's sofa, his head on my shoulder as I read through another one of my advanced books.

  "Yeah, Princess?"

"What are we now?" I'd asked.

I was curious. Was I his lover now? Was I just a friend- or a best friend. But his answer wasn't exactly anything I was expecting.

  "Uh, humans?"

Gosh, he could be so naive at times.

"Like- what are we?"

And he finally understood, lifting his head from my shoulder, acting normal.

"We can be anything you want."

"Well, I like you. A lot."

It came out out of impulse- I didn't know I'd say it. I didn't expect my confession to be so- random.

I sighed as panic engulfed me.

What if he doesn't like me back?

"W-What makes you think I don't?"

I felt a spark of joy in me. But had he really meant the same "like" as I did?

"Not the, I love you as a friend like."

"It's the," I mumbled. "Iwanttomarryyouwhenwegrowup kinda like..."

I was still wondering about the burning question- did he like me back?

"Mhm."

I was confused. What did an 'mhm' mean?

Lucas turned to me as he wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me onto his lap.

My face heated up- I wanted to scream in joy. I felt like my heart could pop out and run away any minute.

"It means I like you," he rested his chin on my shoulder as he said.

I pouted.

His sly moves were no fair- I'd never expected anything at all.

"You still didn't answer me," I complained. "What are we?"

"I don't know."

"Hmph."

"Let's leave this argument for another day, then," I turned to face him, cupped his chin and squished his cheeks.

"I'm meeting Jennette with Daddy."

"I'll stop by later, then," he waved.

"Also, I got my dad to get you a room in the palace," I said as fast as I could, before closing the door behind me. I didn't want to see his reaction just yet- happy? Angry? Sad? Maybe mixed feelings, but I hoped he wouldn't feel lonely anymore.

Looking down, I'd realised I was in pajamas, even since meeting Dad I for morning tea.

"Princess! Get back in your room, you're not dressed yet—"

Crap, I thought. Would Lucas still be in there? Angry, or ready to murder me for asking for a room for him without his opinion.

I sagged my shoulders in defeat, walking into the room to see him sassily leaning against the wall, arms folded as if he were ready to scold me.

I squinted my eyes as I saw him come closer, raising his hand as if he were going to hit me— was he going to hit me? I'd never know, my eyes were closed! I could feel his shadow looming from above me- he must have been close.
