LUCAS POVWhen one story ends, does another start? Just like how when one door closes, would another one open with new, possibilities? New things to explore— or just, something worse, something different.
Lucas couldn't remember much— except being born into a family of wizards, a single child, but with loving parents and grandparents who worked as magicians. In a world where magic was hidden in— it wasn't exactly the best to go to school every day- getting flashbacks from overflowing mana of his past life and getting sent to the infirmary over and over again, when he was completely fine.
But of course, he wouldn't know that he was a character in a romance book series.
It was the last book- his final life, but even so, he didn't know that himself. Not a single memory flash gave him any clue of it but a girl with long, flowing platinum locks and jewelled bluebell eyes.
Lucas lay on his table, head buried in his arms as he gave a deep thought- who is that girl? He was still naive for an seventeen-year-old, believing that past lives truly existed. As much as it was to believe that magic did, what would a past life do for him? Nothing.
"Lucas? Are you okay? Headaches again?"
His head popped up, feeling groggy and green-black hood still flopping across his face.
"A-Ah, yes. Sorry, sseam..."
Time seemed to have passed by so quickly, before he knew it, class was about to start. Mr White, his homeroom teacher cleared his throat, gently leaning against the teacher's table as he spoke, "I know, Monday blues and the weather makes it incredible to sleep, but you guys pay the school for a reason, right?"
"Anyway, we have a new student today," Mr White chuckled, looking to the door as a small shadow loomed near. "You can come in now."
Lucas felt a sudden urge to squint his eyes at the figure walking in- a petite girl with long, flowing platinum blonde hair and a set of bluebell eyes sparkling with the light. It was obvious, that she wasn't born a korean, but her accents, words, and everything said what they had to to prove that she was a korean.
Lucas knew then- it was the girl in his flashbacks. Those overpowering mana. He knew she must have had something to do with him. "I'm Athanasia, it's a really weird name, I know. But, I really do look forward to meeting all of you!"
Her smile was bright and infectious- as if it could spread across the whole class. Her aura was shining- as if she were the protagonist of a novel or comic book.
"The seat beside Lucas is vacant, please keep him awake, okay?" Mr White seemed to beg the girl jokingly, before standing right up from leaning again.
Little did Lucas know, the girl who'd put her books down on the desk right beside him was his past life's lover- the protagonist along with him of The Lovely Princess- The Remake.
Lucas's head lay on his upper arm, which was resting on the table as he faced Athanasia. He felt lots of mana from her- but it'd be impossible she'd be a wizard too, no?
He could hear various whispers from his classmates like, "isn't she like, the daughter of the director? She looks just like a princess- I'be never seen someone like her step into Obelia High."
"I mean, they have a clothing brand too, god, they must be rich."
He furrowed his eyebrows and frowned. Something was wrong about her- he just didn't know what. "Hey, uh- how do I pronounce your name again?"
He seemed to be stuttering a little- his legs seemed to be shaking a little yet he wanted go seem cool like usual. The girl seemed like a rich kid- not exactly stuck up, but very bright.
Athanasia gave another bright as the sun smile. "Just call me Athy- and you are?"
"Lucas. You're not the only one with a non- korean name," he smirked, looking into her blue gems with his ruby red orbs. To think of it, they weren't the only ones with English names in their school- there was Mr White's kid in class 1- Ijekiel, and in their class, Jennette.
However, with Athy, he felt a strange connection. It was weird because they'd just met- yet he felt like he'd known her for all his life. "S-So, um... What do you do in homeroom? I mean- I've tried googling and all but, you know..."
Lucas was shocked at her whisper- had she never gone to school before? Obviously. "I-I'm sorry, I've always been home-tutored, and my Daddy- I mean Dad finally agreed that it was safe for me to go to public school," she stuttered. "Even though he runs the school- he said the kids were chaotic."
It then made sense to him, as he gave her a poker face, hoodie still covering a part of his face. He had been trying to avoid admiring her eyes- they were beautiful. "We just hear Mr White blab on about his life and new things."
"He tries to get his son a girlfriend too, subtly," Lucas added in a soft, skeptical whisper which made a laugh escape Athy's mouth. "Why? His son's pretty good-looking, if you'd ask me, but, I would say he's a little stuck-up."
Lucas felt a prick in his brain- as if another flashback was coming. And so, he felt as if he'd blanked out- from overflowing mana again? Or was it from what she said? He lay his head on the table, mumbling, "give me a sec, I need to do something." Surely, it would be weird to her that he was doing something by putting his head on the table, but he had no choice.
Lucas tried to hide it the best he could, luckily, it worked, he plopped his head on the table before he went unconscious.
"I think he's stuck up," Lucas said, a small pout on his face.
"I think you're the first to say something like that about Ijekiel," Athy's look of annoyance irritated Lucas as he scoffed. "What? Don't tell me you've fallen for him like one of those girls from the tea party?"
Lucas knew for sure- that was his voice. His voice when he was still growing- his croaks and coarse breaking voice. It was definitely him- and that girl with the golden locks was definitely Athy, for sure. But it was probably him being delusional, him seeing things or just, dreaming again.
He lifted his head, looking to Athy, who was still staring right at him as he said, "sorry, was a little occupied."
She seemed to have a shocked expression on her face, pointing to his cheek as she said.
"Lucas- I think you're crying.."
