My mind was all over the place after Jason didn't show up at the cafe for lunch. Is he really seeing Aria? Was he cheating on me? I pushed every negative thought behind my head as I entered Rosewood High. Coach Carol, Rosewood High's volleyball coach just texted me early in the morning and asked me if I could meet up with her today. I pushed the large doors and walked towards the Sports Office to meet her.

"Coach Carol?" I knocked at her door's office. I patiently waited as I waited for Jason to text but he wasn't replying. I took a deep breath and sent a message to him once more.

To: Jason

I know you're busy but you should've told me that you won't be able to join me for lunch so that I didn't look stupid waiting for you in that cafe for almost three hours.

"Lianna?" I saw Coach Carol's face light up as she opened her office door. I quickly placed my phone inside my bag and smiled when she invited me inside her office.

"Thank you so much for stopping by. I know you girls are busy for the fashion show and I appreciate your time" Coach Carol said briefly and sat at the swivel chair behind her table filled with stacks of papers before picking up a cream folder.

"No, it's fine, really. I was just at the cafe near the school grabbing some lunch when you texted" I said to her with a small smile.

"I'm not going to keep you here any longer. I was reading through your school files and back at your old school, you were the team captain for your volleyball team, isn't that right?" Coach Carol said and took her big round glasses to read the papers in front of her.

"Yes, I was their team captain for almost four years including my elementary years," I said with a nod, my eyebrows furrowing as I looked around the office.

"We are really in need of a team captain and I was wondering if you would say yes to my request"

"Coach... I.." I stuttered trying to find the right words to answer her question.

I didn't know what to say.. was I ready to go back to volleyball?

"This is such a surprise... I never thought you would go through my files but uh — can I at least think about it first?" I said, playing with the sleeves of my jumper as I looked at Coach Carol.

"Yes, of course! I'm sorry if it was a sudden request but we do need a team captain and we don't have much time before our training starts to train someone who could lead the girls for our game" Coach Carol said and I nodded, understanding the situation that they're in right now.

"I know you have a lot on your plate and I'm asking a huge favor so please think about it?" Coach Carol said and took a piece of paper from her table and handed it to me.

"Of course, I will think about it" I said as my eyes scanned the paper where the volleyball training schedule is printed. I folded it in half and placed it in my bag before facing Coach Carol.

"Thank you for stopping by, Lianna. This means a lot to us" Coach Carol said and gave me a quick hug before escorting me out of her office.

I waved goodbye to her and headed towards the coffee machine to grab some caramel coffee before making my way home. I pressed the buttons to prepare my coffee and while I was waiting for that, I took out my phone and checked if Jason replied but much to my dismay, he never did.

I rolled my eyes and threw my phone inside my bag and took my hot caramel coffee as I headed home. The air of Rosewood was cold and the hot coffee felt good in my hands as I walked down the empty hallways. The school was almost empty, except for those students who are still submitting important requirements before the weekends.
