At some point in the night, each of the teens fell asleep propped up against one another and didn't wake until Eric's Mom gently shook Eric awake when the doctor came to update them.

"Is he ok?" Eric nearly yelled, which is what woke everyone else up. Jacob would describe the feeling of that moment as equal to taking a shot of adrenaline to the heart.

The doctor smiled and said, "Troye is out or surgery. We were able to stop the bleeding and he is in stable condition."

"Thank God!" Eric said as Kayla pulled him into a hug.

Jacob let out a loud sigh of relief.

"It might still be awhile before he comes to. His body suffered quite a bit of trauma and needs time to heal. In addition to the surgery we found that Troye's right ankle is fractured, he has some rather awful gashes to his head, we did glue one together, the others will heal on their own. I do have concerns that he could be concussed, but we won't know until he wakes up. He's going to be in a lot of pain and we'll have to write scripts to help control that at least for awhile."

"Just Tylenol," a middle aged woman with an Australian accent said. Jacob Figured it must have been Kayla's mom. "I spoke to Troye's dad and he said that he doesn't want Troye to have anything stronger than Tylenol."

"Oh," the doctor said writing a note in Troye's records, "is there a substance abuse problem?"

"No," Eric was quick to answer.

The doctor looked back to Kayla's mom.

"No," she said agreeing with Eric, "but his parents don't want to open any doors that could potentially cause a problem."

The doctor nodded, "Tylenol it is then...oh just a couple of other things to prepare you for when you see him. Troye is on a ventilator, which can appear frightening if you have never seen that before, don't worry- we will be able to remove it as soon as he comes to. Let me also just stress again that he has gone through a lot and he probably will look much worse to you all than he is. We did our best to clean him up as much as we could while he is out of it, but just be prepared as it might seem a bit shocking when you go see him."

"Wait, does that mean we can see him now?" Eric asked.

The doctor looked around the room, "Well, yes, but let's limit it to three at a time."

Eric jumped to his feet, "Let's go then," and then quickly added, "please."

"Can I come with you too?" Kayla asked.

Eric nodded and then looked across the room, "You too, Bix."

Jacob quickly stood up, "You sure?" Jacob asked.

"Ya, but don't mention it again or else I might change my mind."

Jacob nodded. The doctor gestured for the three to follow and stopped outside of Troye's door.

Jacob tried to take a minute to prepare himself, but Eric quickly pushed his way through the door so of course Jacob followed. He then collided right with Eric who paused abruptly as soon as he stepped in.

"Sorry, so sorry!" Jacob said.

But, Eric didn't respond. He slowly walked to a chair in the corner and sunk into it. Kayla hastily walked to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. Eric sighed, "I'm just so relieved he is ok." Jacob noticed a tear roll down Eric's cheek and he nodded in agreement.

Jacob then approached the bed with Troye in it. His first thought, the doctor wasn't kidding. Troye was bruised and cut and his caramel curls were matted and stained with blood. It made Jacob ill to his stomach seeing the gorgeous boy so battered.
