Seonghwa stood in front of the huge house that he was about to buy. He, an eighteen year old boy. His parents had died under unknown circumstances, leaving him with a fortune of money.
The truth is that, Seonghwa didn't care. He didn't care that they were dead. They weren't parents to him anyway. Some manipulative people that wanted to look like the perfect family. Only Seonghwa knew what he had to endure over the past years. They wanted to make him into the perfect son, or rather a puppet, following their every order. But only for people's eyes. Because behind closed doors, Seonghwa became unrecognisable, scars littering his entire body.
So their death was relieving to him. A big weight was lifted off his shoulders.
He took all the money they left behind, and leaving his house, he travelled to the other end of the country. He wanted to be as far as possible from there, to not be reminded of anything, or them. So, after a lot of searching and asking, he finally had found a new place to leave. A house that resembled a castle, not so different from his previous one, on the outskirts of the new city. It didn't bother him that it was remote, he valued his peace and quiet anyway.
He had stumbled upon the house by accident. He was living in a hotel there, and got out for a walk, which resulted in finding this place. So, he asked around and he heard interesting stories about the house.
It was said that ghosts or supernatural entities resided inside. There were a lot of people that wanted to stay there. The locals had warned them, but they insisted. After few days, they were packing their stuff and leaving, claiming that they had seen people wandering around the house. Even children were going there to prove that these things don't exist, but they too had the same reaction. And because noone wasn't able to collect some ground information, the people left the house alone.
But despite that, the house was in a good condition. It wasn't like, how you see it in movies. It was a huge two story building, with the biggest garden Seonghwa had ever imagined to see. In his previous house, they too, had a garden, but it was nothing compared to that.
And so after talking with the locals and a lot of convincing, Seonghwa did the most logical thing a man would do.
He bought the house.

"are you sure you want to do this young man?" the old lady beside Seonghwa said.
"yeah I mean, how bad will it be?"
"ah you young children. Wanting to experience the thrill"
Seonghwa stayed quiet and turned to look at her. So did she.
"you know what? I'll make you a deal" the lady said, a smirk on her lips.
Seonghwa was taken aback by the question. His brows frowned in confusion but heard her anyway.
"I'm listening"
"if you manage to live there for a month, I'll return you the money"
"are you serious?" Seonghwa asked dumbfounded. Was she in her right mind? He would give him back his money if he stayed there for a month? But why? Was things that serious?
He turned again to look at the house. What he had heard came to him mind, but quickly brushed it off. There is never going to be a monster worse and scarier than his parents.
"deal" he faced the woman, a determined look on his face.
The woman's face dropped. She clearly didn't expect that kind of an answer.
"deal? You're a hunder percent sure?"
"yes" he nodded his head, and extended his hand towards the woman.
She hesitantly extended her own, and grabbed his, sealing their promise.
"OK then. I'll just leave you here. I won't go any further. As you see the house is fairly close to the town, so if you need anything we'll be there. I have given you my number, so call me"
"yeah thank you. I'll keep that in mind"
The woman started walking away, entering her car and speeding of down the road.
Seonghwa watched how the car became smaller and smaller by each passing second, a mountain of dust left behind it.
He took a deep breath and looked the house.
'let's go'
