Seonghwa watched carefully at his plate, and lifted his head to look at the people in the room. Something wasn't right. They were supposed to be demons, they were supposed to be scary and trying to destroy him. But the only thing they did was be nice to him, and cook him breakfast. What was happening?
"Who are you?" He suddenly asked. His question needed answers.
"You don't remember?" Mingi asked, widening his eyes.
"No. I mean I remember that you told me that you were the seven sins right?" They nodded.
"So what are you doing? Is this what demons are supposed to do? Make breakfast to others?" He said, annoyance was clear on his voice, but he didn't raise his voice.
The demons looked at him with an unreadable expression.
"If you think we are lying, we are not. To be honest we don't even know why this is happening. Is this bothering you?" The blonde man, San, said.
"Okay let's take things from the beginning. If you're demons, how am I able to see you?"
"Because we are the most powerful among the demons, we can be visible, but only when we want. That's why you weren't able to see us most of the time. The shadows though, were us" Jongho answered calmly.
Seonghwa started processing the information. Okay that made a little sence. They could make themselves invisible. So that's why he was feeling that there was someone in the room, but not actually being there.
"Okay. So, you say your demons. Why are you not acting like one. I mean, you were supposed to scare me, or kill me, or trying to destroy me. Anything that a demon would do"
"And as I said, we don't know. But we are telling the truth"
Seonghwa looked again at them, one by one, but they didn't seem to lie. Well, maybe we'll find out.
"OK, I say I believe you for now. It's just that, it's strange to see demons doing stuff like this"
"Yeah as if. But, we will talk more about this later on. So, let's just eat, I'm starving" Yunho said and took a seat.
Everyone started eating, and Seonghwa watched them for a while. They didn't seem so bad. Well, they were definitely nicer than his parents. And he himself found that he was strangely relaxed. They didn't seem to scare him that much. But, only time will show.
"Are you not eating?" Wooyoung asked him, worry in his eyes.
"Yeah yeah, I was just distracted" He said nervously, and smiled awkwardly, to which Wooyoung replied and went to his food.
Seonghwa lifted the fork, his hand trembling. Cmon, his portion wasn't that big. His utensil got to the pancake, cut a piece of it, and with a big exhale, he opened his mouth and ate it. He chewed and chewed and eventually swallowed it.
He was unaware of the boy that was watching him from beside.
"Great job Seonghwa. Eat a little more" Yeosang said eerily quiet, startling the boy.
Seonghwa looked at him and nodded, wanting to finish his food to hear the praise again. It felt good. It felt good to hear that he did well, instead of hearing that he was a mistake and he did everything wrong.
So once he finished, feeling completely proud of himself he showed the plate to Yeosang.
The Gluttony demon saw that and smiled. He placed a hand on the boys head and ruffled his hair.
"You did great Seonghwa. I'm so proud of you"
Jongho, who also senced the change in Seonghwas confidence, smiled too.
Even though he was the same as his brothers, he was the most powerful of them. As they say, Pride is the mother of all evils. It was really amusing to him to see people having so much confidence in themselves, that they started to doubt even God. That was why he was the mother. Lucifer was an angel in heaven. The most powerful to be exact. And he did only one thought directed by his pride. He wanted to put his throne above from God. And that was what he put him in his current position. Just one thought of pride.
But now that he was seeing Seonghwa confident enough and pride for himself radiating from him, it was enough for him to smile.
Maybe living with him won't be so bad after all.
