Chapter 7

Ethan was softly shaken awake. Sleep was heavy, sticking to him like glue. He felt himself being shaken again. He slowly opened his eyes. Alisha was standing over him, her glowing eyes staring at him. "Good Morning," she said. Ethan sat up, rubbing the sleep away from his eyes. She sat down on the side of the bed. "You're a deep sleeper, John called like three times," said Alisha with a smile. Ethan chuckled, taking a deep breath. Alisha noticed the large scar running down Ethan's right arm.

Ethan followed her gaze. "It isn't as bad as it looks," he said. Alisha stared, a shudder went through her. That was the worst scar she had ever seen. "It's bad, what happened?," she asked. She wanted to touch it, but she didn't want to overstep, she did just meet him yesterday. "I got in a fight, protecting my family... Had a building fall on me," said Ethan. Alisha looked at him. "No you didn't," she said. Ethan smirked, and nodded.

He smelled the scent of bacon and eggs. Alisha stood up. "Breakfast is almost ready, I'll meet you outside," she said. Ethan nodded. He got up, and got dressed. He walked out into the living room. John was sitting at the table, a plate next to him, looking at files. Yasmine and Zeke were watching TV, eating. John looked up, "Well there he is," he said. Ethan waved as he walked to the table.

"About time, man, your food is getting cold," said Zeke. Ethan looked over at him, seeing him shake his head. "I'll make you a plate," said Ruth from the kitchen. Ethan sat down, and stretched. Alisha walked into the kitchen with Ruth. "She insisted on waking you up," said John, "She's happy someone her age is with her." Ethan looked over as she walked out. She glanced at him, and then walked over to join Zeke and Yasmine. "How is she an Icer?," asked Ethan.

Ruth sat the plate of food down in front of Ethan. "The Icer program, has been active for many years Ethan," said John. Ethan looked up from his food. "When Super Pyros started showing up, the government took action, they've known about us for years,' said John, "To make a weapon that could stand against a Super Pyro, that's how I got her." He glanced at Alisha, "She was a little 8 year old girl, being turned into an Icer, the process was painful, being changed on a molecular level like that," he said.

"After I saved her, we found out that the program was put on hold, and I put her into hiding," said John. Ethan couldn't believe what he was hearing. "They took young children, and turned them into Icers, using them as tests, to see if it was possible and they tortured and killed Super Pyros to get the data," said John, "We found where they were being made, and took it down, Alisha was one many children there, no parents, unfortunately she was the only one I could save." Ethan turned to her, "How strong is she?," he asked.

"She's powerful, though she still needs practice," said John. He turned back to Ethan. "Now that the program is back up, and Icers have been made public, we can use her." Ethan looked at the files John was looking at. "This is all the info I could find, we weren't able to find out much, but we found the man responsible for making Icers," said John. He handed Ethan a picture, Ethan noticed it was that man from the news, Martin Crumb. "His name is Martin Crumb, and he took the lead in the program years before, but he shut it down," said John, "I found out that this woman, Evelynn Sharp brought it back." Ethan looked at the picture John slid to him.

The woman from the interview. "How did you get all this?," asked Ethan. John shuffled some papers. "I have an informant on the inside, though they can only leak us so much," said John. He pulled out a map with marked spots on it. "If we can expose The Icer program to the public, show them how they make them, we can shut it down permanently, and put the people who are in charge of it behind bars," said John. Ethan looked at the map.

"These are some of the locations that Icers are made, where Pyros are tortured and experimented on," said John, his eyes glowed in anger as the words left his mouth. Ethan felt more and more determination boiling up inside him. "We're going to take them out, record what's happening, and expose them," said John, "This is our only chance, it took years to even find these because of how top secret they are." Ethan nodded.
