I finished up English after an agonizing four hours of studying with my teacher, but it was safe to say I finally knew the alphabet and could read in English. Granted I had no clue what I was saying, I could still read it. But only small words, words that little kids would use.

I made it back home safe and decided now would be the time to call Johnny. He picked up after the first few rings and I instantly smiled.

“So, how was your day?” He asked and my smile grew wider.

“I ended up actually taking an English class. It was on my schedule and I didn’t even know!”

“Oh dude nice. What have you learned?”

“I can read English now and I know like basic greetings.”

“Alright then let’s try it out; hello, how are you today?”

“Uh… I’m fine, thank you and you?”

Johnny laughed, “Nice.”

“I know right? So amazinggg! Anyway, I now only have 1,459 days left until I see you again.”

“Oh ONLY 1,459 days? Not that long at allllll… And why have you been keeping track of the days?”

“Because, I miss you a lot Johnny.”

I could feel his smile on the other end, “I miss you too Jae.”

I yawned and rubbed my eyes a little bit.

“You getting tired?”

“Yeah, a little bit. It was a long day…”

“Pfft yeah and my day just started. We are opposites now. I’ll let you go to bed, I have a class in ten minutes anyway. Talk to you soon Jae, sleep tight.”

“Yeah, talk to you soon.” I gave a small tired smile and ended the call.

Living here is going to be miserable without Johnny….
