4: Family drama

"So, you and Josh, huh?" Lucas asks, sipping his juice and I groan.

"Ya'll need to stop with this shit. It's annoying! We're friends, nothing more!"

"You should know, a girl never stays friends with a guy for too long. One of them always catches feelings sooner or later." Kayla points out.

"That's easy for you to say. You have someone already." I point out and Kayla grins, kissing Laura's cheek as they hold hands.

"All we're saying is, Josh definitely likes you." Ethan states.

"How so?"

"C'mon, Alexis. The way he looks at you is literally fucking couple goals." Taylor scoffs.

"Josh has always been a charmer, his whole personality is flirty." I roll my eyes.

"But he shouldn't be if he's dating Ashely. Especially to you." Laura points out.

"He's never flirted with me, not once!" I exclaim, opening my bag of chips.

"Sis, he literally said you were the best part of his day. If that isn't flirting 101, then I don't understand anything anymore." Ryan scoffs and Ethan smiles at him.

"See, look, he's hanging with his friends and Ashley." I point out and they all turn their heads.

I then see Ashley pull Josh close to her and they start to full on make out by the vending machine.

Now matter how I tried, I couldn't stop this queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Maybe it's the stench of the cafeteria food, I thought.

"She's literally disgusting." Laura gags and Kayla nods in agreement.

"I know, ten dollars that she's cheated on him already." Lucas says, rolling his eyes.

"Guys, don't stoop to her level." I say, shaking my head as I get up to throw my tray out.

As I reach the garbage can, I bump into a tall figure with broad shoulders.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" I exclaim as I look up at him.

I stared into his dark eyes and his perfect curly hair.

"It's okay, honey. Let me." He grins, bending down to pick up my tray.

I start to blush as he throws it away.

"Thank you so much. Again, I'm sorry, I w-wasn't looking where I was g-going." I stutter, pushing some hair behind my ear.

"It's alright. In my defense, I was on my phone." He says, putting it in his pocket.

"I'm Shawn."

"Alexis." I say, shaking my hand and he smirks at me.

"I'll see you around?" He asks and I my eyes shift over to Joshua, who's glaring at me.

"Yeah, maybe." I grin and he nods, walking past me with a smug smirk.
