14: Spin the bottle and seven minutes in heaven

"Lex." Josh says, with a little confusion in his voice as he looks at me and then at Shawn.

"H-hey, Josh. Hi Kacey." I politely grin at her.

"Hi Alexis. Nice to finally meet you." She grins and I shake her hand.

"Uh, Josh, this is Shawn. Shawn, this is Josh." I slowly say and Josh nods at him, hesitantly shaking his hand.

"What's up man?" Shawn says, nodding back at him.

"Nothing much, you?" Josh says back.

"Just trying to fit in." He shrugs and Josh nods once again.

"Hope you like East High." Josh says.

"You kidding me, I love it." Shawn says, grinning at me and I grin back at him as my cheeks get hot.

I look over to see Josh glaring at me and then slightly clenches his jaw at Shawn.

That's the second time he's clenched his jaw when I speak of Shawn.

Now since he's seeing him face to face, he looks like he's about to fight him any second.

"You alright?" I hear Kacey mumble to Josh.

"Yeah, I'm fine babe." Josh nods at her with a half grin and she nods back.

Not gonna lie, when he called Kacey babe, a little bit of my heart shattered.

But I have to remember, I'm into Shawn, not Josh.

"Hey guys." Another voice says I look to see Taylor sprinting over with Ethan behind her.

"Oh uh, Josh, we have a surprise for you." Ethan says and Josh furrows his eyebrows in confusion.

"What?"

"Okay, you can come out now." I say and Josh eyes me for a second and then shifts his eyes over to the short figure walking over.

"Hey Josh." Red says and Josh's face freezes, his eyes widening.

"R-red? Is it really you?" He breathes out in shock.

"Yeah, it's me." He grins and Josh embraces him into a tight hug.

"Thank you for visiting." I hear Josh mumble.

"I'm not visiting. I'm coming back to East High." Red smiles and Josh's he drops.

"Yes!" He chuckles and hugs Red again.

"Alright, enough with this sappy shit, let's play some spin the bottle!" Ethan cheers and we all agree.

"Josh, Kacey, would you like a drink?" Ethan offers.

I saw how Josh's face stiffened when he said that and I suddenly felt terrible for inviting him.

"I'll take tequila, please." Kacey says and Ethan nods, handing her a red cup.

"Josh?"

"I'm good." He nervously chuckles and I notice his adam's apple anxiously bobbing up and down.

"Okay, let's do this!" Ethan shouts over the loud music and we all follow behind him.

"C'mon." Shawn says, holding his arm out.

I grin at him and link my arm with his and he smirks at me.

I can feel Josh's glare on Shawn and then at me but I don't dare to look at him. I won't give in, not this time.

We manage to find a clean space on the living room rug and we all sit in a circle.
