11: Surpressing feelings

"You spent the night at Josh's house?! Oh my god, spill it all sis." Taylor beams, pouncing on the bed next to me.

"The only reason why I spent the night was because Josh's parents had this huge fight." I mutter.

"What happened?" He asks, furrowing her eyebrows together.

"Josh came by my window last night to ask how I was feeling and one thing led to another, his mom came from Chicago to visit him but his dad was heavily drinking and he left her alone with him. We panicked and rushed over to his house. By the time we got there, his dad had already flipped the dining table. Josh and his dad when back and forth and had a fight. He then ended up shoving Josh's mom so I might've punched him and bopped him in the forehead." I shrug, fiddling with my hands.

"Lex, oh my god. Are you alright? You want to me to call your mom or dad?" She asks, rubbing my shoulder.

"No, it's okay. And yeah, I'm fine. I'm still a little shaken up but it'll pass. I just can't believe how Josh snapped last night. And no, I wasn't afraid of him but I've never seen him act so...protective before." I say, blinking a few times.

"Alexis, he likes you." Taylor nods at me.

"For the last time, he doesn't okay? He likes Kacey and I like Shawn." I say, turning to her.

"You spoke to him for literally forty five seconds. How can you fall that fast?" She lightly chuckles.

"When it's meant to be, it's meant to be. Doesn't matter how fast or slow, it'll happen." I shrug.

"Exactly. Since you and Josh are too chicken to admit your feelings for each other, it'll go slower. You guys are meant to be. Not him and Kacey, and not you and Shawn. Plus, you don't even know the guy."

"I'll start to on Monday." I nod at her.

"Why are you suppressing your feelings? You can like whoever you want."

"Don't you get it, we're friends. It'll ruin it, it'll ruin me. And our almost kiss already made it awkward but when we actually kissed, I barely looked at him. And he only did it because he was vulnerable that night about his parents and maybe thought of Ashley." I shrug, fiddling with my hands once again.

"Did you kiss him back?"

"Y-yes." I groan, rolling my eyes at myself.

"If you truly didn't feel anything for him, you wouldn't of kissed back." She says and I just shake my head, looking at the wall.

"Oh, god. Okay, fine. I think I like him." I groan.

"You can't hide your feelings forever." Taylor states.

"Yes I can, I've been doing a good job of it so far."

"I was in the moment and it was a one time thing. We both agreed to forget it ever happened anyway. Which is a clear sign, he doesn't feel the same. If he did, he would've told me how he felt already. And, you don't talk about other girls to the girl you like. Shall I go on?" I tell her.

She opens her mouth to answer but is interrupted as my phone vibrates.

It's a text from Ethan.

Hey queen, I'm having a party tonight at my house since school is closing again tomorrow. Bring Taylor and your boyfriend Joshie! If y'all don't get together by the end of the night, I'm suing you.

As I read the text I laugh, rolling my eyes.

"Josh?" She smirks at me.

"No. It's Ethan. He's having a party tonight. He said to invite you and...Josh. Should I?" I cringe.

"Alexis, yes, yes, yes!" She squeals shaking me and I laugh.

"Okay, I'll text him now."

I click Josh's contact and send him the message about Ethan's party.

Moments later, he responds.

I'm there! Text you when I pull up. See you tonight x.

"Well?" Taylor asks.

"He's coming tonight." I say, my stomach clenching a bit.

"Yes!" She claps her hands and I roll my eyes.

Her eyes then trail to my phone and I shoot her a puzzling look.

"You have that emoji for his contact? You should change it." She says.

"To what?"

"Baby, with a red heart." She beams and I scoff, hitting her with a pillow and she laughs, hitting me back.

Great, now I need to stress on what I'm gonna wear.

Not to impress Josh of course, I wanna look good though.
