"Lex, open the door. Please." Taylor says and I sniffle as I wipe under my eyes with toilet paper.

"I'm fine." I say.

"You're a horrible liar. C'mon Lex, maybe this isn't all of Josh's fault." She says.

"You seriously can't be defending him right now." I scoff.

"I'm not, but maybe he was provoked. Maybe Red is right. Words might've been exchanged."

"Still didn't give him the right to bash Shawn's face in." I say, finally opening the bathroom door.

"I know. But we all know how crazy he is about you. He'd do anything to defend you. Like I said, he'd never let anything or anyone hurt you. Nor himself." She shrugs.

"I just can't believe what I saw. He was like a different person. And when I was yelling at him to stop, he completely ignored me. He acted as if I wasn't even there. But when he looked at Kacey, I saw his face." I say, shaking my head.

"Lex, he doesn't like Kacey. Trust me. He probably looked at her because he was scared to look at you. Maybe he thought he would give in." She shrugs.

"Sure, let's go with that." I scoff, tossing the damp toilet paper in the garbage can.

"Talk to him." She says and I scoff.

"You're nuts." I shake my head.

"You can think that. But, you really should. C'mon, let's go home." She says, giving me a quick hug and I nod.

We link our arms as we walk out of the bathroom.

The gym is empty and there's confetti, snacks and drinks all over the place.

I hear a ball bouncing and I flinch, turning my head.

I see Josh getting the ball as it rolls back to him and Taylor gives me a look.

He picks his head and looks at me and my heart starts racing.

"I'll meet you outside in a second." I say and she slowly nods, patting my shoulder as she exits through the school doors.

I slowly walk over to him as he makes another shot.

"What the fuck was that back there?" I blurt out and he turns to me, panting as he clutches both side of the basketball.

"None of your business. Shouldn't you actually be taking care him?" He says, shooting another hoop.

"He's a big boy, he can take care of himself. I just want to know why you full on assaulted him."

"I think that's a bit extreme." He breathes, shooting another hoop.

"You hit him in the face and punched him multiple times. That's assault." I state and he scoffs, dribbling the ball.

"Just stay away from me. Like you've been doing anyway." He says, shooting a hoop once again.

I clench my jaw and catch the ball as it drops from the net.

"Give it back." He says and I quickly move my arms away as I clutch the ball.

"Not until you tell me why you attacked him like that."

"Did you kiss him or not?" He says, moving closer to me.

"Josh-"

"Answer the fucking question. Did you kiss him or not?" He says again.

"Yeah, I kissed him. Happy now?" I grimace and he scoffs, shaking his head.

"Why? Why did you?" He says.

"I don't know okay, he kissed me! And I kissed him back." I say and he scoffs and I come closer to him.

"Why do you care?

"I don't." He simply says.

"I think you do. You almost killed him on the court before."

"Why I hit him, is none of your business."

"Yes, it is. Red told me you guys were fighting over me. So tell me what he said to you!"

"He was talking out of his ass, okay?! He was saying how you came all the way to the game to watch him play and said he had you wrapped around his finger." He huffs.

"This is craziness right now."

"See, I knew if I told you, you wouldn't of believed me." He sighs.

"I didn't say that. But you really scared me back there." I say, in a shaky voice and his face softens.

"Lex, I-"

"No, don't Lex me. I kept telling you to stop and you kept going. You wouldn't even look at me. But you looked at Kacey, right?" I scoff at him.

"I looked at her because if I looked at you, I would give in. And I'm still really pissed at Kacey so when I looked at her, I got filed with more rage. You have no idea how weak in the knees you make me." He sighs, running his fingers through his hair.

"No, do not use me as an excuse for you not controlling your anger." I scoff.

"That's not wha I'm saying, I-"

"No, don't. You know what, I know why you attacked Shawn like that." I say and he raises an eyebrow at me.

"You were jealous. Jealous, knowing he spent time with me, made me laugh, touched me." I slowly say, inching even closer to his face.

"And most importantly, jealous that he kissed me better than you ever could." I finally say, quickly looking him up and down.

I give him a smirk and walk away, turning on my heels, the basketball still in my hands.

He grips my wrist and pulls me back.

I hit against his body and he smashes his lips against mine, the basketball dropping out of my hands in the process.

I pull away once I realize what I'm doing and pick up the basketball.

"No, you don't get to do that. You can't just kiss me, thinking everything will be okay. I forgive you about all that stuff with Kacey but after tonight, I think it's best if we just stay away from each other." I say.

He doesn't say anything, just parts his lips but still nothing coming out.

"Goodbye, Josh." I say, passing the ball to him.

I turn on my heels once I hear him loudly smack the ball with his two hands.

I run until I reach outside and scurry over to Taylor.

"How'd it go?" She asks.

"Fine." I brush it off.

"You sure? Hey, you okay?" She asks, furrowing her eyebrows.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll tell you on the way." I say and she nods.

We start to walk and I try to push Josh's kiss in the back of my mind.

But I can't ignore the tingly feeling he left on my lips.
