21: The auditions

"Attention all juniors, please enter the auditorium. All juniors, please enter the auditorium." Principal Moreno says over the loud speaker.

"Okay, that was weird." I say, raising my eyebrows as I grab my textbook from my locker.

"I think East High is having their first play after eight years. I remember seeing the flyer on Friday in the hallway." Taylor says.

"Eight years? Why'd they stop?" I ask, shutting my locker.

"You don't remember?"

"I kinda blocked out all of freshman year." I say and she chuckles.

"Well, we did Romeo and Juliet in freshman year and Karol Jensen just full on barfed on Jason Michael's face." She laughs.

"Oh my god, I remember that. It was the last scene where they changed the ending where Juliet wakes Romeo up by a kiss." I say, covering my mouth.

"Yeah. And I think Karol ate something bad before the show that she just exploded." Taylor cringes.

"I feel bad, that's gonna haunt her forever." I frown, clutching my hand on my bag pack strap.

"Not really, she moved to another school last year." She says and I slowly nod.

"Hey." A voice says and I turn around.

"Hey, Shawn." I grin up at him.

"I'm so sorry that I didn't call or text, I didn't have your number. But I just wanted to ask if you were okay, about last night." He says.

"Don't worry about it, and I'm fine."

"So, you remember what happened last night?" He asks, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, but some parts are a little blurry though." I say and he nods.

"Good. Well, let me know if you remember or need any help remembering." He says.

"I will, thank you." I grin.

"You're welcome. And I uh, had a good time with you last night." He mutters the last part into my ear and my stomach churns.

"Me too." I grin at him and he shows off his pearly white teeth.

Wow, just wow.

"I'll see you around, then?" He says.

"Maybe you will." I shrug with a grin and he smirks, walking off.

"I know that look." I say, turning to Taylor.

"What look?"

"That look of disappointment. What were you gonna say?" I ask.

"Look Lex, I just don't wanna see you get hurt by another boy, okay?" She sighs.

"Oh, but you have no problem with Josh?" I scoff.

"He's been our friend for four years, I know him like a book. He'd never do anything to hurt you." She says and I bite my lip.

"C'mon, we gotta head to the auditorium, don't wanna be late." I say, changing the subject and she nods as we walk down the hallway.

"Okay, everyone, sit, sit." A lady with blonde hair and bright blue eyes says in a soothing voice.

I take a seat on the floor next to Taylor and Laura, with Kayla and Ethan behind me and Ryan and Lucas on the other side.

"Thank you everyone for coming, my name is Ms. Jenn and this is my partner in crime, Carlos. Or in other words, my unpaid rising star." She says and then mutters something to Carlos.
