"Are your parents home?" He whispers as he quietly opens my door.

"No, they're on this all night date or some shit." I slur, rolling my eyes as he nods.

He shuts the door and I take my arm off his shoulder.

"C'mon, let's bring you upstairs." He says and I nod as he helps my limp body get to my room.

Moments later, I arrive, only falling once and he shuts the door behind us.

"Do you feel sick?"

"Surprisingly, no." I say, clearing my throat.

"Not even a little?" He asks, raising a shocked eyebrow.

"Nope. Must be beginners luck." I say and he chuckles, shaking his head.

"You're even funnier when you're drunk." He laughs.

"Maybe I should drink more often then." I smirk and he cracks a grin, licking his lips.

He chuckles to himself and shakes his head, breaking his eye contact with me.

"What?" I snicker at him.

"You're just, cute when you're drunk." He says, scratching his neck.

"Why thank you, Mr. Bassett." I tease and he chuckles.

"I'm trying really hard not to kiss you right now." He mutters to me, his eyes trailing down to my lips.

"Why don't you do it then?" I state, getting closer to him.

"You're drunk. And that's just not the kind of guy I am." He says, nodding at me.

"That doesn't mean I can't kiss you." I state and he raises his eyebrows.

I pull him by his shirt and smash my lips against his.

He kisses back and I close my eyes as he wraps his hands around my tiny figure.

I pull away and tug on his hood and he takes off his neon red hoodie.

He tosses it on the bed and he pulls me against his body and I run my fingers through his hair as his grip on my waist gets firmer.

He picks me up and I wrap my legs around his waist.

I trail my hand down to his arm and squeeze his bicep.

I feel the goosebumps rise on his skin and I smile into the kiss and he smirks back.

He lays me down on the bed and hovers over me.

I meet his gaze and he leans down, kissing me again.

"I really do like you, Alexis. So fucking much. You have no idea how hard it is to not push you up against the wall and kiss you." He lets out a breathy chuckle.

"Are you sure you aren't drunk?" I ask and he scoffs at me.

"Why is so so hard for you to believe that I like you?" He asks.

"Josh, look at me, I'm a drunk mess. Not to mention I'm damaged and half of my family members are locked up. Why would you wanna be around me?"

"Because I know you. And I know you won't turn out to be like them. You've made it this far, you're so strong, Lex. And you're not the only one with family drama." He sighs, laying down next to me.

"How is your mom?" I say, turning my body of face him.

"She's fine."

"Has your dad been home since uh, that night?" I hesitantly ask him.

"No, and to be honest, I don't really care where he is. Probably with another woman at a hotel or some shit." He says, rolling his eyes.

"Josh, don't say that. He's still your dad." I say and he scoffs.

"I'm still gonna use the you're drunk excuse because it makes more sense that you'd say something like that."

"Josh, I'm being serious. Yeah, he fucked up, big time. But he's still your dad. Just like my sister. Yeah, she made some bad choices, but she's still my big sister and she always had my back. I'm not saying you have to forgive him but he's still your dad." I state.

"Why do you always have to be so smart and caring?" He sighs and I giggle.

"That's who I am, Josh. You can take it or leave it." I say.

"I'd have to be insane to ever leave you." He says and snakes his arm around me.

"Josh!" I squeal and he chuckles, pulling me closer to him.

Our eyes meet and mine flicker to his lips and then back up at him.

"Look who wants to kiss who now?" Josh smirks at me.

"You wish." I say, rolling my eyes and he frowns.

"Did you forget about Kacey that fast? How do I know you won't forget about me too?" I scoff, shaking my head.

"Lex, we've been friends for four years already. I could and would never forget you. And I've been over Kacey."

"Did you even like her?"

"At first, yeah. Maybe it's because she reminded me of you. Brown hair, brown eyes, really short, pretty, I can go on." He sighs.

"But I can't kiss you when you and Kacey are still together. I'm not that kind of person, Josh. Even though I despise Kacey, I can't do that to her. I wouldn't want that done to me." I say.

"I'll end it with her. Lex, I wanna be with you." He says, looking into my eyes.

"Did you even ask me how I feel?" I huff, rubbing my head.

"Well, tell me, how do you feel about me?" He asks, snaking his arm back around my waist.

"How do you think I feel about you?"

"I asked first!" He says and I laugh at him.

"Just answer the question, Bassett." I groan and he chuckles.

"Fine. I think..." He trails off as he studies me and I let out a laugh.

"Well?" I raise my eyebrows.

"I think, you've been hiding it all this time. I think, you tried so hard to cover it up that you made yourself like Shawn. I think you were insecure that a guy like me could never go for girl like you. But you're wrong. I've liked you ever since you helped me with that stupid essay." He says and I chuckle.

"And even before that, I always felt a little spark whenever we hung out. I never told you because I was almost positive you saw me as your friend, nothing more. So, did I get it right?" He nervously breathes.

"I don't know, does this answer your question?" I say, softly kissing him.

"I'll take that as a yes." He chuckles as I pull away and I grin at him.

"Don't leave." I say, closing my eyes.

"Never." He says and he pulls me closer and I lay my head on his bare chest.

"Night, Lex." He whispers.

"Night, curly fry." I beam and I hear him laugh.

I close my eyes and drift off to sleep with a smile on my face.

Part of me hopes this is all a dream.
