"Thank god, it's over!" Josh groans, pushing a fist in the air.

"Rude." I pout, hitting his chest.

"Oh no, I think I'm seeing lemonade cans." Josh gasps as he nervously looks around.

"Very funny." I grimace and he laughs.

"At least someone laughs at my jokes." He sighs and I curl up next to him.

"Well, you're funny. What time is it?" I ask, looking up at him.

"Almost 2." He says, looking at his phone.

"I can't believe I'm saying this but, I wish I was in school right now." I say and he scoffs.

"I'm not surprised."

"Why?"

"You love school. You always have. I remember in middle school, you'd drag me to tutoring for almost every subject. Because you said it'd benefit both of us."

"And it did." I grimace.

"I guess it did. I did ace a test every other week." He shrugs.

"See! You're a smart kid, Josh." I say, leaning up against the couch.

"I'm glad someone thinks so." He sighs.

"I always have." I say and he cracks a grin.

Of course, his phone vibrates again.

"Fuck!" He growls, putting his phone in his pocket.

"What's going on? Is it your dad?"

"That and Ashley won't stop spamming the hell out of me." He groans, shaking his head.

"Why is she spamming you?"

"Because I didn't call her back." He rolls his eyes and I frown at him.

"Maybe I should just break up with her." He sighs, playing with his silver ring.

"You sure you wanna take that risk?" I joke and he scoffs.

"Yeah, I'm sure. This has been going on for too long. I need to set myself free. And I kinda like this other girl, but I'm scared to make a move." He says and I look up at him.

"Well, do you think this girl likes you back?"

"I don't know, it's hard to tell. She's already rejected me once. But maybe it's because she's scared, I don't really know." He says, meeting my gaze.

"Do I know this girl?"

"Yeah, I see her at school everyday."

"What's her name?"

"Jealous much?" He jokes.

"You wish. Just looking out for my friend." I laugh, shaking my head.

"Her name is Kacey."

"Oh, Kacey Jacobs?" I ask.

"Yeah, you've seen her too?" Josh asks, scratching his cheek.

"Yeah, I have her in art and science. She seems nice, and very smart." I nod.

"Yeah, she is. So, what about you and Shawn?" He asks.

"All we did was bump into each other by accident, nothing special. But I guess I'll see him at lunch on Monday." I say and Josh nods, slightly clenching his jaw.

"You okay?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Ashley is just driving me nuts. I'm about to send her a break up text right now." He says, typing away on his phone.
