Chapter 1
PART 1
Tiana's Perspective
"I've never seen any life transformation that didn't begin with the person finally getting tired of their own bullshit."-Elizabeth Gilbert

AN unfriendly explosion of water erupted from the sky pushing me further and further away from my thoughts. Thoughts of why I actually do value my most precious possessions and expectations in life. One of the ripped apart boxes, became even more soaked as I glared at it. I had only thirty minutes to obtain the rest of my scattered belongings before everything else could potentially be thrown side the road. It had happened again, time after time, another eviction. I felt as if the world was eating me alive. The day had started off terrible with countless bill collectors, loan company threats, and rejected applications from various establishments. It's evident that I was put on this earth to struggle.
I rushed over to the side of my trashy apartment complex in dirty converses preparing to grab the dingy box filled with high school memories and materialistic girly items. The box was so heavy against my small frame that I almost tipped over trying to maintain it all in two hands. As I was struggling to carry the box over to my elderly Honda Accord, my landlord Lyn appeared outside watching my every move. Everyone in the apartment complex had a natural hatred towards Lyn, including me. Not because of her nonchalant demeanor, but for her nasty inconsiderate ways. Superiority reeks from within her and it was very hard to miss.
"I hope you're almost finished," Lyn stated watching my every move.
"Why wouldn't I be?" My response was surprisingly sarcastic. Practically slipping while sitting the box down in my raggedy trunk I faced Lyn.
"Good, all of it was just about to be garbage." Her tiny almond eyes raked over me as her cherry lips formed into a frown.
I ignored her presence hopping into the four-door vehicle sighing in frustration.
"I do hope you find your way Tia," Lyn said as I turned on the engine.
"And I do pray for you Lyn." I sped off cautiously in the rain watching Lyn's figure up under a magenta umbrella disappearing into the distance.
No plan, no direction, no notion of my thoughts. I desired to get away and start over, a clean slate and something to look forward to in life besides a good night's sleep. Barely paying attention to the road ahead, my thoughts provoked me as I continued to drive towards my sister's house. The drive was short as filled boxes and bins corrupted the back seat. Trimmed light green grass, flower patches, and stone brick suburban houses entered my eyesight as my sister stood on her front porch with crossed arms.
"Took you long enough to get here." She uncrossed her arms hurdling me inside from the rain. Once inside the dimmed house, she gave me a tightening hug, despite my wet clothing and ice-cold flesh.
"Why didn't you call me? Jeremy and I would've been over there early this morning to help you pack."
Angie had always been overprotective and my backbone for a lot of things, but this time I didn't want her in my business. I didn't need her subtle judgments after every incident either.
I shrugged, "figured you both were busy."
"Lies, after all of these years Tia you still haven't learned your lesson. Responsibility is essential in life and you have none." Angie informed me heading to her linen closet grabbing a dry towel throwing it across my shivering body.
