Chapter 10

Owen's Perspective

"Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life."-Dolly Parton

I continuously stirred the ground beef in the skillet ignoring my sister.

"Come on Owen please?" She asked sitting on my island whining.

"Hell no, now stop asking."

"But I already told her you'd go."

"Well, you lied to yourself and her."

I cut the stove down to medium putting a lid on the food contents sitting down in the kitchen area getting on my phone to check Instagram.

"You're an asshole." She jumped off the island slapping me on the back of the head.

"I don't give a damn." I continued scrolling.

I loved my baby sister more than anything, but she had been annoying me since yesterday trying to set me up on blind dates and shit. I don't care what anyone says that shit does not work. You have to get to know a person a little bit first before jumping into date mode. It was a Tuesday night and the only thing I wanted to do was eat and go to bed. Before any of that could happen Sixty had come over to my place forcing me to get dressed up for some date with one of her friends.

"Sixty for the last time, I'm not kickin it with any of yo friends they all ran through with no morals."

"Owen, you never give anyone a chance, you know how many girls be trynna get with you? Always in this damn house or at work like an old man."

"That's how I like it." I said kicking my feet up on the kitchen table.

"Owen you're already twenty-six I guess you wanna be that old man with a bunch of dogs roamin' around because you're gonna be alone for a very long time if you don't get out more."

"Chill out I ain't havin' a bunch of bitches runnin around my crib. I'll be in a group home livin my best life before doin' all that."

"Something is wrong with you." She went into the kitchen to fix herself a cup of water.

"Since you got a nigga you been trynna give people relationship advice sit down somewhere."

"Owen will you please just do this one time she's a really cool girl."

"Alright dammit if I do it will you be quiet?" I was beginning to get irritated.

"Yes," she said jumping up and down.

"You need to change though or I'm not claiming you."

"Nawl I'm just gon show up with a t-shirt on and some sweat pants," I said sarcastically going into my bedroom.

"Watch the stove!" I yelled out.

I didn't plan on dressin' up considering I ain't know this girl, so casual would do. I threw on a nice shirt with some jeans brushing my teeth. I had just showered an hour ago, so I walked out of the bedroom ready to get this on over with.
