"Did you just say...you love me?" I asked Jake.
"Yeah I did." He smiled.
"How can you possibly say that if you don't even know a thing about me!" I said with a grimace look on my face.
" Oh but I do Hazel Grace." Jake said smiling.
No. No.No.No.No. He did not just say that! All my emotions immediately started boiling inside me turning into anger.
"NEVER CALL ME THAT AGAIN!" I screamed at him slamming my door.
Gus called me Hazel Grace, only Gus called me Hazel Grace, and that wasn't about to change.

I went out for the dinner the night I was supposed to be with Jake because I thought it would make me feel better. I went to my favorite restaurant "Taste of China" and ordered the usual, orange chicken bowl with fried rice instead of white.
I sat down and began eating my food when I heard a fimiliar voice begin to order.
"Hi can I have the orange chicken bowl with fried rice please. Thanks." Said the the voice.
Don't look up. Don't look up. Don't look up. I kept telling my self afraid of who I would see. And finally I threw my head up to see who it was.
Oh come on! This restaurant is on the other side of town! How could Jake know about this?!
When he spotted me he grabbed his food and sat down right next to me.
"Look I'm sorry for blowing up on you earlier." I said to him. " it's just my ex ...er....I don't know if I would say 'ex' but....old boyfriend use to call me Hazel Grace and it just brought back a lot of memory's." I said frowning.
"Yeah I know." Jake said.
"Okay so- wait. How did you know." I said to him.
"Look Hazel. I'm......I'm Gus's cousin." He said frowning with a half smirk.
"Your what?" Is all I could say. I practically choked on my food trying to get any words out.
"He never told you about me?" Jake said half jokingly.
"No. Well wait.....yes he mentioned he had a cousin named Jake but I didn't think that was you out of all people!" I said raising my voice.
"Hazel I know it will be hard for you to date someone related to Augustus but-" he was cut off.
"No! I'm not doing this there is no date and there is no us!" I went to get up went I tripped and fell onto him.
He caught me and our eyes met and eventually, so did our lips. He started kissing me and soon I was kissing back, and let me tell you WOW this kid could kiss. It felt like the whole world was spinning slower just for us. We then pulled apart and I smiled. That was literally the best kiss I ever had, sorry Gus.
"Tomorrow my place 6:00." Was all Jake said.
"I'll be there" I smiled letting him know I now felt the same way he did.
It's weird how one kiss can change your entire perspective on some thing.
