I woke up with 15 text messages and 9 missed calls.
I looked who it was from.
Leslie. Of course.
I read the messages:

Leslie's right. I don't want this to ruin our friendship.
I dialed her number and waited for her to pick up.
"Hi Hazel?" Leslie said quickly.
"Yeah it's me." I said.
"Hazel please forgive me." She cried.
"Your right. I don't want to ruin our friendship so I forgive you." I said.
"Hazel! Thank you so much." She wailed.
"I shouldnt have reacted that bad in the first place." I said.
"Hey I got to go but we will talk later okay?" Leslie said.
"Okay bye Les!" I said before hitting the end button.
It felt good to have Leslie back because she is my best friend and I don't want to loose her over something so stupid.
I sat down on my couch and went through my old pictures on my phone. I found one of Gus and I, it was a picture we took in Amsterdam. That was such a fun trip, I smiled at the thought of it.
"I miss you so much." I said letting a tear roll down my cheek.
"I should've died, not you." Now my eyes were bursting with tears.
Then I heard a knock at my door. I quickly brushed away the tears and pushed down on the door handle. It was Jake.
"Hi Jake." I said trying to hold back my tears.
"Hazel are you okay?" He said.
Just as he pronounced the last letter of his sentence I reached for him and he hugged me. I wasn't holding my tears back anymore.
"It's Gus isn't it." Jake said.
"Yes..." I said sobbing into his shirt. " I should've died not him!" I whined.
"Hey! Don't say that....you didn't even have cancer, he had no choice." He said.
"Wait. Gus didn't tell you?" I said lifting my head from his shoulder.
"Tell me what?" Jake said.
At that moment I realized all Jake had known about me probably wasn't true.
