Chapter Six

I woke up slightly hungover. Feels like I can still hear the jazz music from the bar last night. I started my day with a cup of coffee and jazz music with Bean. Today, I am going to learn how to play the saxophone.

The saxophone is probably the sexiest instrument other than the guitar and piano. I'm about to die and I will fight people who disagree.

I sign myself up a one-day music lesson at a beginner music school for children. Yes, beginner. And yes, children. I bought the shiniest saxophone they have. Never expect me to buy myself a $300 saxophone. Who would have guessed it?

Being the only weird and awkward adult in the class full of 12 years old, I sat in the back corner alone. I didn't come here to make friends. I'm here to destroy all the 12 years old after I fully mastered saxophone within a day.

The lesson is going well. I'm actually learning how to play the saxophone. After a while, it was the self-practice time. I was alone jamming myself hard to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, a 12 years old girl walked shyly towards me.

"Can I practice with you? I'm new and I haven't made any friends yet."

"Sure."

"My name's Cynthia. I'm 12."

"I'm Eve and I'm 29."

"This is a children's class."

"Yes, it is."

"Why are you here?"

"Adults are scary."

Cynthia giggled as I joked. We practice together and end up having lots of fun. Also because I was crushing this. The saxophone looks gigantic on Cynthia, her hands couldn't reach all the keys.

"You should practice with the other kids here. To make friends."

"I know. But I saw that you're alone and thought you needed a friend too."

Children are really angels.

"Thank you, Cynthia."

Cynthia beamed.

"Also, one saxophone sounds lonely. It sounds better together. Like an orchestra!"

The lesson ended and I accompanied Cynthia to wait for her parents. Before leaving, Cynthia handed me a chocolate bar and waved goodbye. I make my way home, satisfied with myself for knowing how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the saxophone. Time to go home and water Bean and play it some music.
