Chapter Twenty Two

I have always wanted to be someone who speaks many languages. I find people who are multilingual so smart and sexy. I mainly speak English and Mandarin but I do know how to speak basic French. Today, I'm going to learn Korean.

I woke up later than usual. My flight back home was delayed and it really screwed my body clock. I unpacked my luggage way past midnight and was busy sorting the souvenirs after that.

Let's be real. It is technically impossible to master a language within one day. So instead of being all serious, I want to have fun learning. I got dressed, ate lunch, watered Bean and left my loft. I am driving to Mandy's house. She picked up a last-minute shift at her workplace and I volunteered to babysit Callie and Newton.

Callie and Newton were excited to see me. Maybe because I was about to give them the souvenirs from Korea. Either way, seeing them elated makes me so happy.

"Hey, thanks for babysitting. You literally saved my life."

"Yeah, of course. I love spending time with them anyways."

"Heads up, I told them you're... sick. I don't think they understand the concept of cancer and dying yet..."

Mandy sniffles. She shakes her head and smiles. I put my hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, don't worry about it. I'll let them know. Somehow."

Mandy left and I started to set up a whiteboard. I place tables and chairs around. Like a little classroom.

"Alright, kids! Today we are going to learn Korean!"

Callie and Newton shriek in excitement. I handed them notebooks and pens. I connected my phone to a portable projector and shone it towards the whiteboard.

We watched a few basic Korean lesson tutorial on YouTube. A few hours past and Callie and Newton became restless. It was almost their naptime. I put them to bed and tuck them in.

"Hey, Auntie Eve."

"Hey, sweetie."

"Mummy told me and Newton that you are sick. Have you seen a doctor?"

"Yes, I did."

"What did the doctor says?"

"He said that because I am sick, I am turning into an angel. I am going to continue to look over you and your little brother."

"Woah! That's so cool! You are going to look really beautiful in a white dress and feather wings."

I kissed Callie's forehead and stepped out. Just before I close the door, Callie shouted for me.

"Auntie Eve! 나는 항상 너를 사랑 할거야."

"Me too, Callie. Always."
