Chapter 4

I agree with you.
This's a ship of pirates...after all.

"A ship of pirates.." I mumbled to myself as I sat in my room.

When I was little, I was always told never to go near pirates because they're wanted by the navy.

We should let her go.

I want to go home soon, but why does it make my chest heavy?

"Yo," Eduardo said as he walked into the room, standing in front of me.

"Eduardo.." I mumbled, wiping away the tears on my cheek so he wouldn't see.

"Why are ya sittin' in the corner?" He raised an eyebrow at me.

"Uh..no reason." I shrugged, getting up quickly.

"Whatever. Captain's orders." He announced. "He wants to see us in his room."

"Listen! We're headin' t' Magic Islands!" Captain bellowed. "Woman, ya ever heard of Magic Islands?"

"I believe its a place you never come back from." I knitted my eyebrows, trying to recall stories I'd heard. "There're many dreadful islands, right?"

"Ya got it! Monster Island, Fortress Island, Scorching Island are some!" He laughed. "Many islands're there and we're gonna land on the Ice Island!"

"Ice Island?" I asked.

"Its a glacial island." Eduardo nodded. "Nobody ever goes close to it cause te temperature goes down below -40."

"And that's where we're gonna land?" I frowned.

"We got to land there!" Captain smiled. "Because the map of the treasure sits there!"

So pirates really do look for treasure then..?

"Everyone's afraid of the island as an island of death." He chuckled again. "I want one of ya t' go and explore it!"

"One..why don't we all go?" I asked.

"Why even ask?! We gotta keep the damage to a minimum!" Russell said.

"Very few come back from the island," Nathan added.

No! Why should someone have to go to such a dangerous place alone..?

"I'll go." I turned to see Eduardo standing with crossed arms.

"Eduardo, that's very brave of you..." Doc nodded. "But you have to understand there' s no guarantee of safety."

"I know," he snapped. "Whatever it takes t' get that map though."

Eduardo...must really want treasure to jump through hoops like this?

"Ok! Eduardo is our man!" Captain slapped him on the back.

"Excuse me..." I piped up.

"Whaddya want, woman?" Morgan grinned at me.

"Can I go, too?" I asked without thinking.

Shit, everyone's staring at me.

"Ya crazy?!" Eduardo sneered. "Ya know we're not gonna be there fer snowball fightin'."

"I just.." I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to steady myself. "I just wanna repay you for saving my life."

"I like this girl!" The Captain shouted, hurting my ears. Does he have to yell every single time? "Ya return the favor! That makes ya a pirate!"
