Jennie
My eyes squinted at the sunlight, my footsteps embracing New York streets like it was the easiest thing to do. Among the crowd - I knew people were looking at me, but I never understood why.
"She held my hand, can you believe how magical is that?". I asked, walking through the streets, meanwhile being on the call with Rosè who had a lunch break.
"Can you believe how magical being gay is?". Chaeyoung teased, which made me certainly roll my eyes. "I'm not gay". I have nothing against gay people, but being labeled isn't my thing. I would rather call it the freedom of love. God bless America - I meant to bless me.
"And can you tell me where are you going right now miss independent?".
"I wanted to go shopping later, but for now. I'm just walking around..". I answered, stopping myself and my lack of words. "Jennie..". Rosè spoke in a warning tone, which made me bite my lip anxiously.
"Don't tell me you're going out there to look for her..".
"Maybe?".
"Be straightforward with your answer, or you know what? Be gayforward, as long as you answer me". Chaeyoung sighed.
"Yes".
"Jennie, may I know why you're looking for her?".
"There is something very vivid and mysterious about her. I want to get to know her". I answered with honesty.
"I don't think 'The Mysterious Barbie' is the type of person who likes to be followed around, or have someone look for her". I could hear that my best friend was trying to be reasonable here, but I'm a curious person. And I can't just let this go.
At least not yet.
"Did you ask at least if she worked here or at least went to any school here?".
"I did, but she didn't even bother to answer. Just held my hand and boom, Shazam. She was gone. And do you know what she said when I told her can I at least catch your name?". I spoke as Rosè hummed.
"She said; Even if I tell you my name, you won't get to read my story". I remarked her words.
"Damn, I never knew Barbie is this dark. Usually she's very girly, bubbly and fake as her wigs". I chuckled at my best friend.
"Eric was never the type of person to be dark and mysterious. But despite that, that girl made me feel attracted to her like a magnet". I dreamily spoke.
"Yeah, Eric is kinda mysteriously dumb". Chaeyoung hissed.
The line went silent for a few seconds, my eyes scanned the street, a lot of people were walking in hurried footsteps, meanwhile a few chose to stick by and enjoy the slow-motion of being left behind in the crowd.
"Do you think there is a chance of me finding her?".
"I think there is a chance actually..". Rosè said which made me feel excited but then her words made me frown, "..Of you being kidnapped by some serial killer".
"Park Chaeyoung!".
"Yeah sorry, that was me trying to make logic here, but it doesn't matter. You're so into her". She sighed.
I spotted a familiar face, my eyes lit up unexpectedly. "Bingo, I found her". A huge sigh of relief escaped my lips as I looked at the coffee shop.
Another coffee shop? I frowned.
This girl has something with coffee shops.
"Have fun then, but please don't make babies because I'm way too young to—". I cut her off, "Oh my god, stop it, you weirdo".
"Alright then, Adios idiot!".
"Wha—". She hung up on me, and I was left here standing.
Contemplating, whether I should walk up to her and say 'Hi' or just watch her walk away. I took a deep shaky breath, my instincts - guts told me to run away. But my heart, it was slowly aching to be in her presence.
And as cliche as it sounds, I followed my heart.
