2 days later
i stepped off the plane and the warm LA air hit me
i collect my luggage and walk towards the entrance to find my uber, once i found it i told the driver the address my parents had given me and he started driving there
i was nervous and excited to see my parents again because it's been over two years since i last saw them
to pass the time i look out of the window, looking at the familiar streets that i used to call home, remembering the memories that they hold
the uber stops and i thank the driver before stepping out and looking at the building in front of me, it appeared to be a house so maybe my parents are planning on staying in LA for longer than they had told me
i step up to the front door and knock on it, letting out a few deep breaths. the door opened and i saw my mom's face appear
i drop my bags and wrap my arms around her "i missed you so much" i say when i pull away from her
"i missed you too! and look how much you've changed!" she says smiling "come on in, your dads inside
i quickly pick my bags up and my mom takes them off me so i follow her into what i guess is the living room
my dad stands up when i walk into the room and a large smile grows on his face "who's the young lady we have here?" he says and comes and hugs me
"it's good to finally see you again! where's my little girl gone though? look at you! you've grown up so much!" i laugh a little at him
"it's good to see you too dad, i missed you both so much!" i say and look between them
"we missed you too" my dad says smiling "so tell us, what've we missed" my mom asks and i chuckle "well where do you want me to begin?" i ask
"wherever, perhaps somewhere after when we left and go from there?"
"well, once you guys left and i was settled into my apartment, i would always have sleepovers with alexia at my place and we would act as if we were fully grown adults, staying up late and making our own food" i smile at the memory before carrying on
"and then we both got accepted into a modelling agency we had applied for a part time job at, we would do shoots after school and on the weekends and it was the most fun i have ever had" my mom nods and smiles at my reflection on what they have missed
"there was one time when we didn't have a shoot together and i had to go by myself, i ended up meeting two people called gabbie and christina who ended up being mine and alexia's best friends" i feel a slight feeling of guilt run through me as i talk about gabbie, christina and alexia
"how did you end up going to minnesota?" my dad asks and i smile slightly to hide my nerves of telling them about zach
"well it all started when i became friends with a boy from my math class, his name was zach herron and we got along really well, about 2 months later he asked me to be his girlfriend and i said yes" i look between my parents and surprisingly they didn't have a look of criticism on their faces because of me getting a boyfriend
"for a while we were happy and life couldn't get much better, everything was running so smoothly" i sigh and prepare myself to tell them the next part
"i sense a but coming up" my mom said and i nodded "yeah there's quite a bit but coming" i say and look between them once more before saying it
"but then one day he told me he had to go away for a bit, only a month but he promised to stay in touch with me, only he broke that promise and when he came back he broke up with me because he 'lost feelings for me'"
"awh my poor girl" my mom says and hugs me, i bury my head into her shoulder because even though i'm over him it still hurts to think of everything that happened
"once that happened, i needed to get away, so i checked online for places that i could live that also had a college, minnesota was that place. i moved less than a week later without telling anyone, i just disappeared. i changed my phone number and all my social media's, i just wanted to leave my LA life behind for a few years" i say and my dad nods
"that's a smart thing to do, giving yourself space enabled you to refresh yourself and also get on with your life without any reminders" i smile "thanks dad, that means a lot"
"however i was only 17 so i had to do online schooling until i was old enough for college, i also stopped modelling. once i went to college, i moved into a dorm and met my best friend jonah, since then i haven't communicated or seen anyone form LA, well until about a week ago when zach transferred to my college"
"oh no, has he said anything to you?" my mom asks and i shake my head no, deciding to leave out the whole situation in the library
"well if he does say something to you jas, don't go easy on him!" my dad says and i smile "oh don't worry i wasn't even planning on talking back to him" i say and he nods
"good girl that's a good idea" he said and we all laughed "so jas i'll show you where your room is" my mom said standing up
"my room? i have a room?" i ask "of course you do honey" my mom replied
she took me and my bags upstairs and took me into a room that was decorated with light grey walls and some white shelves, there was a bed against one of the walls and there was also a big window facing out to a beautiful view of LA
"wow this is beautiful" i say looking around "you like it then?" my mom asks with hope in her voice
"definitely, but what do you mean?" i ask slightly confused as to why she asked if i like it, surely this isn't my room permanently
"well me and your dad were going to surprise you but we are moving back to LA full time, our job changed so that we don't have to travel and that means we can live in LA"
"oh my god! i'm so happy you're staying here!" i hug my mom, happy that her and dad aren't going to be leaving again
"yes well that means you can come and visit whenever you want to" she says and my smile grows just at the thought of being able to come home from college to stay with my parents
"i can't wait to be able to visit you and dad all the time"
