twenty six

"oh it's good to be back here again" i say as i walk into my parent's house

i stay and talk to my parents about the last two weeks for a while, purposely leaving out everything about zach because i don't really want them knowing about it

i then grab my bags and walk upstairs to my room

as i walk in i put the bags down and lay down on the bed, i close my eyes but as i feel as if i'm gonna fall asleep i hear a voice coming from outside

i stand up and walk over to the window, it's daniel sat on his porch with a guitar, he is playing it lightly while singing a bruno mars song

i quickly unpack my bags, pick up my phone and go outside to see daniel

"your back!" he says when he sees me, putting down the guitar and coming to hug me

"yeah i'm here for the weekend" i say and daniel smiles

he leads me into his porch and we sit on some armchairs that have been placed on there "so tell me, anything happened since i last saw you?"

"actually, you might wanna get comfortable since a lot has happened" i say and laugh as daniel stands up to plump the cushion that is placed on his chair "okay im comfortable" he says when he sits back down

"i forgave zach and we started hanging out more" daniel nods and i carry on "he told me about this party that had happened and said he was ashamed of that night and how he was drunk and slept on a kitchen table" i laugh slightly at the memory of when he told us

"but then on friday he when went to another party so i also went, he tried to kiss me and then he went to get some water for us both, i then found him with a girl practically hanging off of his body and i also discovered that he had hooked up with her at the previous party, he then ignored me for 4 days, and since then has been begging me to let him explain"

"wow, that's messed up and this is zach we're talking about so it's pretty messed up even for him" i nod and we share a moment of comfortable silence

"maybe you should let him explain, see what he has to say" daniel suggests "you sound like jonah, he wants me to talk to zach too"

"i'm not pushing you to do anything but maybe you should, he still likes you jas, like a lot" i nod processing everything that is happening

"when i get back to minnesota i might let him explain i just need to think about this properly" i say "okay, just remember it's your choice, don't be forced or influenced to do something you don't want to do" daniel says and i smile

"don't worry dani i'll make sure i make the right decision" i say and he smiles and nods

"i don't know about you but i'm hungry" daniel says laughing "i'm a little hungry but not that bad" i say "come with me, let's go get something to eat then" daniel says and stands up and we go inside

i say hi to everyone and then daniel takes me to the kitchen with him, he opens the nearest cupboard and takes out a bowl

"what are you having?" i ask and he smiles "i am making us one of my superior fruit salads that you need to taste"

"oooh okay" i watch as daniel prepares the fruit and puts it into the bowl as he cuts it, once he has done all the fruit he pulls out two forks from the drawer and brings the bowl and the forks over to the breakfast bar where i am

"a fork for you and a fork for me" he says while passing me a fork before adding on "you first"

i look into the bowl trying to decide what i'm going to eat first, i pick up a strawberry and a grape on my fork and eat them

"good?" daniel asks, i nod smiling and put my thumbs up. me and daniel carry on eating the fruit until about two thirds of it is gone

"daniel!" we hear keri shout from another room "yeah?" daniel shouts back and stands up from his chair "you've got a visitor" she says and alexia walks into the kitchen

"lex!" daniel says and goes to embrace her in a big hug "hi dani" she says to daniel while he is hugging her

"i made a fruit salad, we ate most of it but there's still some left if you want any" daniel says and alexia looks over in my direction and smiles, i smile back and then they both come and sit down at the breakfast bar with me

"hey" alexia says to me as she sits down "hi" i say back, not quite knowing what to say next. alexia picks up daniel's fork and starts to eat some of the fruit

"so what should we do?" daniel asks "i don't mind" i say "maybe we could go somewhere?" alexia suggests

"yeah i mean if that's what you two wanna do" daniel answers and looks towards me "i don't have anything else to do so i'm in"

"okay well i'm gonna go and put a different pair of pants on and then i'll be ready to go" i nod only just noticing that daniel had a pair of black sweats on

daniel disappears upstairs and me and alexia are left alone for the first time

"so how long are you here in LA for?" alexia asks, breaking the silence, i never thought it would be awkward between us two but i guess i am proved wrong

"only until sunday night" i reply and she nods "cool"

"sorry, this is kinda awkward" she says and laughs gently "yeah, but it really shouldn't be since we've known each other so long" i say joining in with her laughing

"i think we need to catch-up though" she says and i nod "definitely, we are long overdue a catch-up" i say and a few seconds later daniel walks through the door

"should we go?" he asks and we both nod

"how did you do that?" daniel asks and me and alexia both answer at the same time saying "do what?"

"that! you both nodded at the same time and then you just said the same thing, it's like your synchronised!" we all laugh and i look over to alexia, i've missed my best friend more than i even realised
