"Is this even gonna work?" Nico asked me

"let's see." i replied

" we'd better get to sleep before someone wakes up and ruins the prank" Rachel said

"yeah," everybody mumbled quietly, getting into their sleeping bags

After I stopped being such an insomniac and went to sleep after helping to pull a prank, I woke up to the grinning face of Leo Valdez hovering over me.

"AH!" I yelled

"Good Morning!" Leo greeted, "today is a wonderful day."

"today?"

"might've been a good day for you Hot Head, but not for the rest of us!" Thalia groan yelled from the bathroom

"Wait, what time is it?" I asked

Leo looked at his watch, "11:38, why?"

"I was gonna go practice skateboarding. One of my New Years' resolutions." I replied

"seriously dude? Have you ever even touched a skateboard in your life?" Leo asked skeptically

"of course I have! I used to love skateboarding, with my cousin Tyson when I was 13," I said, "guess I grew out of it, but it was cool so I'm trying to start again."

Leo shrugged, "ok man, can i come though? I was planning on getting an unnecessary amount of Mcdonalds today."

"sure."

"Also, do you even have a skateboard?" Leo asked as we headed toward the kitchen for breakfast

"yeah. I have a cruiser, a longboard, and 2 pro skateboards" I explained

"wait," Leo stopped and turned his head to me, "there's more than one type of skateboard?"

"Leo-" I continued walking to the kitchen.

"I'm serious! I always thought there was just that one that they always had in shows that people did tricks on." he said catching up to me, "you know, the short oval one- I think made out of wood?"

"Good morning!" Silena said at the stove, cooking pancakes, eggs, and bacon

"it's not morning it's 11:40."Nico said through a mouth stuffed with food

"I have 20 minutes left, let me enjoy my morning, Nico," I said back

"what do you wanna eat?" Silena asked

"just something light, I'm going to the skate park soon"

"there's a skate park in New York?"Beckendorf asked

"yeah, it's right on 32nd street. My brother Malcolm goes there all the time"

Wow, I did not know that Annabeth would have anybody in her family that would be interested in something like skateboarding.

Annabeth is so smart, I thought her family would just be super smart people who don't do much with small things like skateboarding

"you think he's there now?" Thalia asked, walking into the dining area

"probably. He goes there like, every day. He and his little friends might be able to teach you guys how to do some tricks or whatever."

"Seriously?" I asked, stunned

Annabeth shrugged, "yeah."

I did some type of dumb happy dance on the inside

the new year was starting off pretty well

"ok then we can all go later today,"
