Chapter 1
Jayden
Standing outside the gates of SS Angels' High, Jayden looked up at his new school. It was a pretty run down building with paint fading off at some parts of the walls. He watched as students filed in. Some girls had their skirts pulled above the knees and wears ankle bands while the guys had their pants tapered and school shirt hanging loose and untucked.
"A new place, a new school." Jayden mumbled to himself and started towards the principal's office.
As he pushed open the glass door to the principal's office, the smell of coffee wrafted from the receptionist's desk reminding him that he had not had his breakfast yet. The receptionist, he observed, was young. Her shoulder length auburn curls matches her emerald eyes.
"Yes, may I help you?" She asked, flashing him a hundred-watt smile.
"Yeah, I'm Jayden Thron, the new guy"
"Ah, yes, the new student. Mr Lake has been expecting you, his office is the second door to your right." She flashed him another smile while pointing to a door down the aisle.
Jayden mumbled a thanks and started towards the door, shoes squeaking on the newly polished floor. He knocked and pushed open the giant oak door. Mr Lake was sitting behind an oversized table stacked with piles of paper. Mr Lake himself was oversized, his belly was jammed in between the table and his chair. His face was round with beady eyes and glasses which lenses are as thick as Jayden's pinky finger. Mr Lake looked up from his paper work and motioned for Jayden to have a seat. Jayden took the seat opposite him and started to nibble on his thumb nail, a habit when he was nervous.
Mr Lake placed his elbow on the desk and rested his chin on his fingers.
"Mr Thron, welcome to SS Angels' High. I see that you're from California?"
"Call me Jayden, and yes sir, flew over cause of family issues."
"Well, I hope that you will see SS Angels' High as your second home. Get your timetable and locker number from Page out there and get started on your day shall we?"
"Yes sir, and will do." Jayden mumbled and got up from his seat. His shoes squeaked all the way back to the receptionist desk and collected his timetable for the rest of the year.
After saying bye to Page, he started reading his timetable.
"Chemistry first period, locker 2512."
He spotted his locker down the corridoor and deposited his books inside, taking what's neccesary. After closing the locker door, a girl walked towards him, she had ebony black hair, drew back into a ponytail and eyes so dark that its hard to tell the pupils from the irises. Her lips was curved back into a smile.
"Hi, you're the new guy right?" she said in a gentle and soothing voice. Jayden lowered his head and started nibbling on his thumb nail.
"Yeah, I'm the one."
"My name's Taylor," she held out her hand "and your's?"
"Jayden." He shook her hand and quickly place them in his pocket.
"Hey Jayden, guess I'll see you around?"' she beamed.
"Yeah, guess so." And with that he took off to find his class.
"Damn! That was exactly the kind of thing I wanted to avoid!" muttered Jayden. He never wanted to make friends let alone close friends. He just did not want to go through all that emotional drama and heartache of leaving them when his dad tells him that they have to move away. He just did not want to see his friends cry while sending him off. It was something he have to and can avoid.
