Chapter 10
Taylor
Taylor stood outside the gates of SS Angels' High watching people drive out of the school gates, occasionally waving to a few friends while waiting for Jayden. She ran her fingers through her hair and thought back on Isabelle's words. Even though she was a down right dumb blonde, but her words did hold some truth. What if Jayden learns about her past and chooses to save himself from the heartbreak? Or worse, despise her for what she had done? But she have changed, she really had. She was no longer that childish old self who goes around changing boyfriends every few months just because she was never content with her current one.
And what on earth went on with Jayden and Derrick again? She personally believed that it was Derrick who provoked Jayden. Like seriously? Can't that guy get anymore childish than this? She realised the irony of her thoughts and shook her head at herself. She just hoped no one got hurt.
She was so caught up with her mental disscussion that she practically jumped when she felt someone tap her shoulder. She turned her head to find Jayden staring at her and she suddenly felt self conscious. She tugged her shirt down and ran her fingers through her hair again. Jayden cocked his head to the side and raised an eyebrow. How cute, she thought.
"A penny for your thoughts?"
"I wasn't thinking about anything."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah really."
He shrugged.
"Whatever."
She noticed a cut at the corner of his eye and a bruise at the corner of his mouth.
"Derrick did this to you?" She asked while guesturing at the bruises. Jayden nodded.
"Is it serious?" She reached to touch the bruise but he moved his face back. She got the hint and quickly withdrew her hand.
"Nah, minor bruises. I've been through worst. He on the other hand," Jayden said with disgust, "had to call his surgeon to have a nose replacement." He smirked. She couldn't help but think that was the cutest smirk she ever seen. But it was gone as abruptly as it appeared.
"So... Where are we going?" She asked, looking up at him.
"I'm the new kid in town, I should be the one asking that question." Jayden said.
"Right..." Taylor said thoughtfully. "Let's go to The Coffee House. They sell awesome coffee and desserts."
"Lead the way princess." Jayden nodded and both of them headed down the street.
As they entered The Coffee House, they were greeted with a strong aroma of coffee. Taylor breathed in the conforting scent and picked a spot nearest to the window. Taylor ordered iced mocha while Jayden ordered a cappucino. While waiting for their drinks, an awkward silence started to fall. Taylor shifted in her seat while Jayden stared at the on-going traffic outside. Say something you idiot!
"Erm.. Today's weather looks nice."
The weather looks nice? What the hell? Nice opening, just bang the wall Taylor, just bang it.
Jayden turned and raised at eyebrow at her.
"Yeah, I guess so?"
Taylor was racking her brains for a reply when the waiter came with their coffee. Thank you coffee. They took a sip from their drinks.
"Nice?" Taylor asked.
"Not bad." Jayden replied.
"Are you kidding me? Its The Coffee House. Its not just 'not bad'" Taylor said, rolling her eyes. Then both of them started to laugh.
"Okay okay, its good." Jayden held his hands up in mock surrender.
"Good." Taylor said narrowing her eyes at him.
After finishing the last bit of their drinks, the paid the bill headed out.
"So... Where you want to go now?" Taylor asked.
"Home I guess, to finish up some homework." Jayden replied.
"Oh." Taylor tried not to look too disappointed.
"Yeah. I'll be going that way." Jayden pointed down the road, "Byes, see'ya tomorrow." And he started walking away.
"Yeah, bye." Wow, that was a warm goodbye. Taylor shrugged and walked the other way back home. Man. That sure created an impression.
