Chapter 7

Taylor

Sitting in front of the mirror, Taylor put on her earrings and applied a thin coat of lip gloss. She walked down the stairs to the living room where her mom was stretched out on the sofa reading the book with the TV on.

"Mom, I told you you can't multi-task, its either you read or you watch TV, plus, you're wasting electricity."

Taylor's mom looked up from her book.

"Its okay dear, your dad's paying the bills, not me."

"Its not the bills mom, its about being eco-friendly. So what's it going to be?"

Her mother sighed and switched off the TV.

"Happy?" Her mom looked at her with the same dark eyes as Taylor's.

"Delighted." Taylor rolled her eyes.

"I'll be out eating dinner with my friends and will be back by ten."

"Okay."

By the time she started on her journey to Sunset Cove it was already six-thirty. As she was walking there her mind started to drift away. Why had Derrick wanted to meet there? What is he up to now? She flash backed to when they had their first kiss. It felt so magical, when their lips touched, it had sent tingles down her spine and made her wanted more. She was snapped back to reality when a car honked at her because she wondered too far off the road and she cursed herself for going that far.

As she was reaching Sunset Cove, she saw Derrick sitting on a huge rock which overlooked the sea. The reason the place was known as Sunset Cove was because during sunsets, the whole sky would be painted in shades of orange and yellow. The sun would look like a gigantic fireball melting into the water. Sparkles of blue and green danced on the surface of the water. That was exactly how it looked like at the moment, beautiful.

"Beautiful isn't it?" Taylor jumped at the voice and spun around to come face to face with Derrick. He must have seen her and gotten up from his rock.

"You scared me." She said, extremely aware that their faces were just inches apart.

"Remember this place? We had our first date and first kiss here. I'll always remember how it felt and how beautiful you looked." Derrick's midnight blue eyes shone brilliantly against the setting sun. Like shimmering pairs of onyx.

Not knowing what to say, Taylor looked at the ground. Derrick lifted her chin up.

"Tell me what you're thinking." He whispered.

"I.."

Suddenly Derrick bent down and planted his lips on Taylor's, leaving her momentarily too shocked to react. Seconds later she pushed Derrick away and he stumbled back a few steps in suprise.

"What are you doing!" Taylor screamed. She caught a glimpse of a familiar pair of dark brown eyes and a grey hoodie.

"Jayden!" She called out but he was already turning away.
