Chapter 9
Taylor
Taylor woke up this morning with a sick feeling of rejection and confusion. She stumbled out of bed and got ready for school. She slipped into her favourite pair of skinny jeans and a T-shirt which hugged her curves perfectly. But today she was not in the mood to admire herself. She let her hair fall down to her upper back and skipped the make up for today. She slung her messenger bag over her shoulder and headed out with a piece of energy bar in her mouth.
She sat at the bus stop and images of Jayden started flashing in her head. The image of him when she first met him, his black hair ruffled, making him look boyish and cute, his slightly muscular build giving off a 'don't mess with me' vibe. And oh, his eyes, his dark brown eyes which shone under the morning light was filled with beauty and depth. Some thing other guys lacked. Yeah, she's going crazy. What he said yesterday hurt her a lot but she thought she saw the same hurt flash across his eyes. And how he looked so dejected as he walked away, is it possible that he feels the same way as she does?
Her train of thoughts was momentarily paused as the bus came. She got the window seat and stared out as trees and buildings sped past.
She walked down the half-filled hallway and there he was by his locker. His hair falling into his eyes, eye brows furrowed as he rummage through his locker like he was concentrating on the most important task in the world. The morning light made his hair and eyes glow, making him look like a fallen warrior angel.
"Breathe!" Taylor thought to herself. She lowered her head and walked towards him.
Jayden
Jayden felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to find Taylor Simons looking back at him.
"Hey." She beamed at him. Jayden raised his eye brow and closed his locker.
"Hey you."
"So...." She began, fiddling with the strap of her bag. "You going anywhere today after school?"
"Erm... I'm not so sure... Are you trying to ask me out on a date?" Jayden could not help it but smirk.
"What? No! I mean..." Taylor stammered. Her cheeks becoming pink and she began fiddling with her strap more. Jayden reached out and caught her bag strap before it slides off and place it back on her shoulder again. Her cheeks flushed even redder and bit her lower lip. God, she is so cute. The only thing he could do now is to stop himself from pinching her cheeks. Before he could contemplate the pros and cons of this entire situation, he finds himself saying,
"Look, tell you what, let's meet at the carpark and see what we can do." Here goes nothing. Taylor's eyes shone brighter than before. How cute!
"Really?"
"Really." And he reached out to ruffle her hair. He couldn't help it. Taylor blushed harder and hurried down the hall.
Taylor
Taylor rushed into the girls' washroom and stood in front of the mirror. She placed the back of her hands on her cheeks to cool it down. Breathe Taylor! Breathe! She closed her eyes and took three calming breaths. Despite her every intentions to calm herself down, she found herself thinking about him again, like how it felt when he ruffled her hair. How his eyes..
"Hey Taylor."
She jumped, forgetting that she was in the washroom.
"I saw what you did there."
"What?"
"You little bitch batting your eyelids, trying to act all innocent just so that boys will fall head over heels for you. HA. That new guy is just stupid enough to fall for your old tricks. But I bet once he finds out about your little reputation, he'll run the fuck away from you."
Taylor's heart sunk a little, realising the reality of her words. But then remembered what a btich Isabelle is. She decided two can play this game.
"That's funny. This coming from someone who's famous for being.."
"Fight! Fight! Fight!"
"Oh my god guys! you've got to see this!" Jean shouted from the entrance of the washroom. A crowd has gathered in a circle, watching some fight.
"You take that back you jerk!" Jayden shouted before crashing his fist into Derrick's jaw. Before Derrick could reply, another fist came crashing into his nose.
"Dude! You broke my nose! Now you're so gonna pay!" Derrick pressed a hand against the lockers to stabilise himself before returning the favour.
Before his fist can connect with Jayden's cheek, an all too familiar figure was starring at them, stamping his foot.
Then suddenly, the crowd stopped chanting.
As if on cue, the school bell rang, signalling the start of lessons.
"Both of you in my office now. And the rest of you better get your butt back to class."
The massive crowd dispersed like tuna caught in a net.
"Misters, in my office now."
