Chapter 12

Taylor

Taylor buried her face in her pillow in an attempt to block out the insanely bright light that’s seeping through her window. She groaned after failed attempts to breathe through her pillow and stumbled out of bed to draw the curtains. With the curtains drawn, she fell back onto bed. It is at this time her mind decided to take a trip down memory lane and images of yesterday’s date flashed across her mind. She groaned in frustration knowing that she would never get back to sleep, she threw her covers aside and flipped over to glance at the alarm clock. Nine-thirty am. Who in their right minds would wake up at nine-thirty am on a Saturday? She rubbed her face and stared at the ceiling. She couldn’t get her mind off Jayden now. That guy is driving her crazy. How the thought of his tousled hair and chocolate eyes could make her beam and the sight of him smirking or running his fingers through his hair will make her heart skip a beat. No other guy has made her feel this way before.

When she finally summoned enough will power to tumble out of her bed, she stumbled into the bathroom to brush her teeth. While watching the foam form around her mouth with each brush in the mirror, she finds herself thinking whether Jayden in brushing his teeth now, what type of toothpaste does he use, does he use mint or herbal mint flavor? As she showered, she wondered if he was showering too. But most of all, she wondered whether this feeling was mutual. After brushing her hair, Taylor bounded down the stairs to find the house empty. She sighed and went to the kitchen to pour herself a bowl of cornflakes and climbed up the stairs again with her bowl. She settled in front of her mac book and login to her Facebook. After an hour of listless scrolling and chewing, she finally detached her butt from her chair and went downstairs to wash the dishes. After that was done, she settled in front of the TV and began her mindless flicking of channels. After what seemed like hours of that, she off the TV and threw the remote to the other end of the sofa.

“Damn TV nowadays, nothing good is ever on!” She grumbled and rubbed her face. A glance at the clock told her that it was only eleven am. She decided that she shall not spend her Saturday on mindless activities in the house, so she threw on her jogging attire, grabbed her sneakers and started on her not-so-early-morning jog.

Taylor didn’t know how long she jogged but by the time she reached Sunset Cove, the sun was a gigantic glaring ball of fire and she was thankful for the sea breeze. The beach was packed with people sun tanning and children playing so she decided to visit her favorite spot at Sunset Cove. She went to the far end of the beach where the giant boulders were and she climbed the rocks and settled on top of the boulder. This place was free from human noise and had enough breeze to keep her cool, just her and the waves. She liked to think that this was her special spot, a secret hide out where no one would find her. She drew her knees close to her chest and stared out at the sea, listening to the sounds of the ocean until…

“Its you.” She felt herself stiffen at the familiarity of that voice but couldn’t put a finger on it. Well, so much for secret hide outs.

Jayden

Jayden woke up that morning from a dream of a girl with ebony black hair seated facing the ocean but the sun was so bright that he could not see her face properly and when she was about to turn her head towards him, he woke up.

It was a strange dream as he never had dreams like this since his mother was taken away. And he vaguely remembered he had the same dream somewhere when he was nine. He tried not to think about it but could not rub off the thought that she looks strangely familiar.
