Chapter 8

Jayden

Jayden had gone out to get some fresh air and stumbled upon Sunset Cove. The whole place was filled with vibrant and vivd colours like an oil painting that has not been dried up yet. He turn his head and saw Taylor and Derrick. He was just about to ignore them when he saw them kissing. Now that was totally not what he expected them to do. He awkwardly turned to leave but it was too late, Taylor have spotted him. Damn it.

"Jayden!" She cried out but he decided to ignore her and continue walking. Something ached inside him when he saw them together, something raw and unpleasant. He decided not to dwell on it. Suddenly, someone tapped his back, he spun around to come face to face with Taylor who was panting from the effort. He stepped back widening the space between them. Taylor seemed to notice his reaction but decided to ignore it.

"Hey, fancy seeing you here, don't get the wrong idea, me and him---"

"You don't hae to explain anything to me," he cut in. "Whatever happens between you two, its not my problem." He shrugged, trying to act like it does not matter.

"But---"

"Look, I got to go somewhere real quick," he cut her off again. "So see you tomorrow in school." He quickly turned around, avoiding Taylor's gaze which was filled with hurt. He continued walking down from the way he came from, trying to ignore the pain which is now growing in his heart."

Derrick

He got rejected. Again. Never in his whole life had a girl reject him so many times. Who does she think she is? Dumping him when she wants to. But then again, why did he keep wanting her back when she did not want him? And why does Jayden have to appear everywhere? Is he stalking her? He was so deep in thought that he almost fail to notice a shadow behind one of the tall rocks.

"How long have you been there?" He called.

"Long enough to see how you got rejected." Isabelle Laywood steps into the orange sunlight. "Yet again."

"What does it got to do with you?" Derrick snarled. Even at this temperature, she is wearing mini shorts. At least her leather jacket adorned with fur at the collar and wrists seemed reasonable. Her platanium blonde hair glowed orange under the sunlight and her striking baby blue eyes bore into his.

"Why do you have to keep trying to get her back?" She said, ignoring his question. "Why do you have to keep making yourself seem so desperate?" she said as she circled him, her stilleto heels clicking against the rock floor.

"Its none of your business." Derrick replied, trying not to sound affected. But his eyes were filled with hurt that gave him away as she stopped in front of him and chuckled. A soft, seductive tone.

"Derrick." She leaned in. "You're popular, you're loved by the entire school, you can choose to be with any girl you want, Taylor Simons means nothing, she's not good enough for you." Now she is so close that he can smell her breath. Strawberry. He looked into her eyes, she was still waiting for his answer.

He took a step back.

"I think I know who is best for me." He said and began turning the other direction.

"I'll make you change your mind." Isabelle challenged.

Derrick walked away feeling her burning gaze on his back as he made his way out.
